Tetanus (also known as lock jaw) is a serious bacterial infection caused by the bacterium called Clostridium tetani. It locks the muscles of the jaw and neck of the infected patients and makes it hard for them to open their mouth or swallow.
Tetanus immunoglobulin contains antibodies that are prepared from the blood samples of the screened donors. These antibodies bind to the tetanus causing germs and prevents them from attacking the nervous system. As a result, it prevents painful muscle spasms and other conditions associated with tetanus.
Do not receive TETGLOB 250IU if you are allergic to tetanus immunoglobulin or other immunoglobulins. Before receiving TETGLOB 250IU inform your doctor if you are severely dehydrated or have diabetes, high blood pressure or blood clots in the body. You must also inform your doctor if you got vaccinated recently or scheduled for any upcoming vaccination.
Consult your doctor before receiving TETGLOB 250IU if you are pregnant and breastfeeding. TETGLOB 250IU can be used in children if prescribed by the physician.
