What TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG is used for?

It is used to treat a wide range of infections such as:

  • lung infections (pneumonia, bronchitis or whooping cough)
  • urinary tract infections
  • sexually transmitted diseases (chlamydia, gonorrhoea or syphilis)
  • skin infections (acne)
  • infections of the eye (conjunctivitis)
  • rickettsial infections (Q fever or tick fever)
  • other infections such as brucellosis (headache, sickness, fever, swollen lymph nodes), psittacosis (headache, nose bleeds, shivering, fever), plague (painful swelling of the lymph nodes), cholera (severe sickness and diarrhea), leptospirosis (fever causing jaundice or meningitis), gas-gangrene and tetanus (lock jaw)

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have kidney or liver problems for a long time
  • have systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
  • suffer from myasthenia gravis
  • have headaches or visual disturbances
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • This medicine is not recommended in children and adolescents under 12 years of age

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • drugs used to treat infections
  • vitamin A
  • drugs used to treat acne
  • oral contraceptives
  • warfarin (used to stop the blood clotting)
  • furosemide (used to treat heart problems)
  • kaolin-pectin and bismuth subsalicylate (used to treat diarrhoea)
  • drugs used to treat diabetes
  • methoxyflurane (used as an anaesthetic)
  • antacids (neutralize acid in the stomach)
  • bismuth or zinc salts
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • It can be swallowed with a glass of water

If you take more TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG

  • If you take too much than your prescribed dose, contact your doctor or any nearest hospital  

If you forget to take TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG

  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you forget to take a dose take it as soon as you remember it and then take the next dose at the right time

If you stop taking TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG

  • Do not stop taking this medicine without advice from your doctor

  • skin rashes such as itchy, swelling of the face and tongue
  • fever and chest pain (inflammation of the membrane around the heart) or breathing difficulties
  • headache, visual problems (blurred vision, blind spots, double vision)
  • sensitivity to sunlight or artificial light such as sunbeds (tingling, burning or redness of the skin)
  • nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach upsets, loss of appetite, discoloration of tooth enamel, difficulty swallowing, swelling or ulceration of the gullet
  • pseudomembranous colitis (watery diarrhoea, fever and cramps)
  • inflammation of the pancreas (pain in the abdomen or back, feeling sick and fever)
  • changes in the numbers and types of your blood cells
  • bruising, nosebleeds, sore throats, infections, excessive tiredness, breathlessness on exertion or abnormal paleness of the skin
  • redness or color change of the skin, flaky skin, thrush or irritation around your bottom and genital area
  • changes in liver or kidney function (tiredness, pain in the abdomen or back, difficulty passing urine) jaundice (yellow skin or eyes)
