TEMSI 80MG contains Telmisartan which belongs to the group of medicines called Angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It is used to treat essential hypertension in adults. High blood pressure that is not caused by any other condition is called essential hypertension. It is also used to reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke in adults who are known to have a reduced or blocked blood supply to the heart or legs and diabetes. Symptoms of essential hypertension includes early morning headaches, nosebleeds, irregular heartbeat, vision changes, and buzzing in the ears, fatigue (feeling overtiredness), nausea, vomiting, confusion, anxiety, chest pain, and muscle tremors (shakiness).

Telmisartan makes blood vessels to relax and thus lowers the blood pressure by blocking the effects of Angiotensin II (a substance produced in your body which causes narrowing of blood vessels). Your doctor may check your kidney function, blood pressure, and the amount of electrolytes (Ex. potassium) in your body prior to the treatment or at regular intervals along with the treatment.

TEMSI 80MG is not recommended for use in patients having severe liver problems. TEMSI 80MG should be used in caution with patient having diabetes, kidney disease, allergy to telmisartan, heart problems. Consult your doctor for advice before taking TEMSI 80MG, If you are pregnant or breast-feeding. TEMSI 80MG is not recommended for use in children and adolescents up to the age of 18 years. The most common side effects of taking TEMSI 80MG is low blood pressure. Consult your doctor if the symptom worsens.

  • signs of high eosinophil count in blood (fever, night sweats, swelling, weakness)

  • low sugar level in blood (in diabetic patients)
  • feeling anxious
  • sleepiness
  • impaired vision
  • fast heartbeat (tachycardia)
  • dry mouth, dysgeusia (impaired sense of taste)
  • eczema (a skin condition with red, itchy, irritated skin)
  • pain in joints(arthralgia), extremities, tendon
  • flu-like-illness
  • severe pain in joints, joint stiffness, slurred speech

Stop taking TEMSI 80MG and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • sepsis (body's life-threatening response to infection which can lead to death, organ failure)
  • angioedema (rapid swelling of the skin and mucosa)



Take TEMSI 80MG with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks and drinks. Avoid drinking too much liquid along with your meals. Consult your doctor if your symptom does not improve.


Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor.

Stomach pain:

Try to rest and relax. Try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.


When you feel dizzy, lie or sit down immediately. If you're experiencing a severe episode of vertigo, lie in a dark and quite place with eyes closed. Vehicle driving should be avoided, if you experience frequent dizziness without warning. Talk to your doctor if the symptom worsens.



TEMSI 80MG is not recommended in early pregnancy and must not be taken when more than 3 months pregnant, as it may cause serious harm to the baby if used after 3 months of pregnancy. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.


TEMSI 80MG is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Your doctor may choose another treatment especially if you want to breast-feed when your baby is new-born or born prematurely. Consult your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.


Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy or tired after taking TEMSI 80MG. Consult your doctor before taking TEMSI 80MG.


Avoid consumption of alcohol as it may increase the risk of low blood pressure.


TEMSI 80MG should be taken with caution in patients with kidney disease, kidney artery stenosis (narrowing of blood vessels to one or both the kidneys) and kidney transplant. Consult your doctor before taking TEMSI 80MG.


TEMSI 80MG is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver problems such as cholestasis or biliary obstruction (flow of bile from liver stops or slows). TEMSI 80MG should be used with caution in patients with other liver diseases. Consult your doctor before taking TEMSI 80MG.


TEMSI 80MG is not recommended for use if you are allergic to Telmisartan.


TEMSI 80MG should be taken with caution in patients having heart trouble or low blood pressure (due to dehydration problems, low-salt intake, diarrhoea or vomiting). Before taking TEMSI 80MG consult with your doctor.


Before taking TEMSI 80MG, inform your doctor if you have:

  • low blood pressure
  • signs of high potassium in the body (muscle weakness or numbness in limbs, irregular or fast heartbeat)
  • signs of raised aldosterone levels (extreme thirst, muscle spasms)
  • diabetes

Use in pediatrics:

  • TEMSI 80MG is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age). Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Use in geriatrics:

  • TEMSI 80MG is used with caution in patients above 65 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.


A. Drug - Drug interactions:

Before taking TEMSI 80MG, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

  •  angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors used to treat high blood pressure (Ex. enalapril, lisinopril, ramipril)     
  •  aliskiren (medicine used to treat high blood pressure)
  •  digoxin (medicine used to treat heart failure and abnormal heart rhythm)
  •  medicines containing lithium (used to treat some types of depression)
  •  medicines that may increase blood potassium levels such as salt substitutes containing potassium, potassium-sparing diuretics (Ex. amiloride, spironolactone)
  • non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs - medicines used to treat pain and inflammation (Ex. aspirin, ibuprofen)
  • heparin (medicine used to prevent blood clot)
  • immunosuppressive agents such as ciclosporin or tacrolimus (used to prevent organ rejection after transplant)
  •  antibiotic trimethoprim (medicine used to treat and prevent urinary tract infections)
  • diuretics such as furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide (used to treat oedema or high blood pressure)
  • corticosteroids such as dexamethasone, hydrocortisone which are involved in stress, immune response
  • baclofen (medicine used for muscle spasm)
  • amifostine (medicine used in cancer chemotherapy)
  • barbiturates (medicine that acts as a central nervous system depressant) such as phenobarbital, pentobarbital
  • antidepressants such as citalopram, fluoxetine, paroxetine (medicine used to treat depression)
  • narcotics such as morphine and codeine (medicine used to treat moderate to severe pain)


If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of TEMSI 80MG, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. The most common symptoms of overdose are low blood pressure and fast heartbeat, dizziness, elevated levels of creatinine and sudden kidney failure.

Can TEMSI 80MG cause slow heart rate?

Yes. TEMSI 80MG can make your heart to beat slow. If you experience any abnormally slow heart rate with shortness of breath, feeling of fainting and spinning consult your doctor.

Can TEMSI 80MG cause anxiety?

Yes. TEMSI 80MG may make you feel anxious. However, it does not affect every individual. Try to rest and relax. Meditation and breathing exercise can work. If your symptom worsens, please consult your doctor.

What precautions do I need to follow while taking TEMSI 80MG?

Patients taking TEMSI 80MG must inform their doctor about their pre-existing disease conditions like kidney, heart, or liver problems. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any unusual symptoms after taking TEMSI 80MG.

What happens if I stop taking TEMSI 80MG?

Do not stop taking TEMSI 80MG without talking to your doctor first. Stopping this medicine suddenly can cause your blood pressure to spike and may increase the risk for heart attack or stroke.

How long should TEMSI 80MGbe taken?

Telmisartan does not cure high blood pressure but controls it. Your blood pressure may decrease during the first 2 weeks treatment, but it may take 4 weeks for you to notice the full benefit of telmisartan. Consult your doctor for the exact duration of recommendation for you.
