INTRODUCTION

TEICOCORD 400MG contains Teicoplanin which belongs to a group of medicines called antibiotics. It is indicated for use in serious gram positive infections, staphylococcal infections in patients sensitive or unresponsive to penicillins and cephalosporins, CAPD (continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis) related peritonitis and prophylaxis in orthopaedic surgery at risk of Gram-positive infection.

Teicoplanin is a bactericidal, glycopeptide antibiotic, which inhibits the growth of susceptible organisms by interfering with cell wall biosynthesis at a site different from that affected by beta-lactams. Peptidoglycan synthesis is blocked by specific binding to D-alanyl-D-alanine residues.

TEICOCORD 400MG will be administered by your physician or nurse. Tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, are pregnant or breastfeeding.  Your doctor will administer the right dose depends on your child’s age and body weight. The most common side effects are rash, itching, fever and injection site reactions.
