INTRODUCTION

TEBINA contains Terbinafine which belongs to Antifungal agents, used to treat fungal infections of the skin and nails. It is indicated for athlete's foot, jock itch and ringworm, yeast infections. It acts by attacking and killing fungus which causes infection. A fungal infection known as mycosis, is a skin disease caused by a fungus. They live in the dirt, on plants, on household surfaces, and on your skin. This can lead to skin problems like rashes or bumps.

Terbinafine is an allylamine which has a broad spectrum of antifungal activity. At low concentrations it is fungicidal against dermatophytes, molds and certain dimorphic fungi. Terbinafine interferes with the production of ergosterol and causes a buildup of another substance called squalene in the fungal cell. This leads to a deficiency in ergosterol and to an intracellular accumulation of squalene, resulting in fungal cell death. Both actions cause the death of the fungus and elimination of the infection.

Before using this TEBINA, inform your doctor if you have any allergic reaction. Avoid contact of this medicine with eyes. Rinse thoroughly with running water in case of accidental contact. It is not recommended for children and adolescents below 12 years of age. The common side effects are flaking, peeling or irritation of skin.

HOW TEBINA WORKS

TEBINA works by interfering in the production of a substance (ergosterol) that the fungus needs to grow and causes a buildup of another substance in the cells (squalene). Both actions cause the death of the fungus and elimination of the infection.
