TATKAAL 72MG contains Levonorgestrel which is an emergency contraceptive prevents pregnancy after birth control failure or unprotected sex. It has to be used within 72 hours (3 days) of unprotected sex or if your usual contraceptive method has failed.
Levonorgestrel is a hormone that has been used in many birth control pills which works mainly by stopping the release of an egg from the ovary and prevents fertilization of an egg (the uniting of sperm with the egg) or by preventing attachment (implantation) to the uterus (womb).
Before taking TATKAAL 72MG, tell your physician if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, are pregnant or breastfeeding. This medicine is not suitable for use before the first menstrual bleeding (menarche). The common side effects are nausea, headache, lower abdominal pain and tiredness.
Levonorgestrel stops your ovaries from releasing an egg and prevents sperm from fertilizing any egg you may have already released.
Always take TATKAAL 72MG as instructed by your doctor. Take the medicine as soon as possible, preferably within 12 hours, and no later than 72 hours (3 days).
Headache:
Rest and drink plenty of fluids. Apply a wet or cold cloth to forehead and rest in a quiet, comfortable, dark room.
Nausea:
Stick to regular meals and do not eat rich or spicy foods.
Abdominal pain:
Place a warm bottle or heated bag on your abdomen and drink plenty of clear fluids and water.
TATKAAL 72MG is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
TATKAAL 72MG is not recommended for use during breastfeeding. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
Do not drive or handle any tools while taking this medicine, since it may cause dizziness or tiredness.
TATKAAL 72MG is not recommended if you are suffering from severe liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
Tell your doctor if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Levonorgestrel.
TATKAAL 72MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active heart diseases or low heart rate. Consult your doctor for advice.
