What is TAH 40MG?

  • TAH 40MG tablets contains Amlodipine Besylate, Hydrochlorothiazide and Telmisartan Tablet
  • Amlodipine tablets belongs to a group of medicines called calcium antagonists
  • Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a group of medicines called thiazide diuretics, which cause your urine output to increase, leading to a lowering of your blood pressure

What TAH 40MG is used for?

TAH 40MG tablets are used to treat

  • high blood pressure (hypertension)
  • chest pain due to narrowing of the blood vessels of the heart muscle (angina pectoris) or the rarer form of chest pain caused by cramping of the blood vessels of the heart muscle called Prinzmetal or variant angina

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you

  • are allergic to amlodipine, Hydrochlorothiazide and Telmisartan or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, or to any other calcium antagonists
  • are suffering from cardiogenic shock
  • are suffering from narrowing of the aortic heart valve
  • suffer from heart failure after a heart attack
  • suffer from chest pain at rest or with minimal effort (unstable angina pectoris)
  • have severe low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • have liver or kidney problems
  • are elderly, your doctor may monitor you closely
  • have diabetes or impaired kidney function
  • have Gout
  • suffer from heart trouble
  • have renal artery stenosis (narrowing of the blood vessels to one or both kidneys)

Tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines

  • medicines that can lower blood pressure (e.g. verapamil, diltiazem)
  • ketoconazole and itraconazole (antifungal medicines used to treat skin and fungal infections)
  • HIV-protease-inhibitors (antiviral medicines used to treat HIV infections, e.g. ritonavir, Indinavir, Nelfinavir, Nevirapine)
  • clarithromycin, erythromycin and telithromycin, rifampicin, rifabutin (antibiotics)
  • nefazodone, medicine to treat depression
  • John’s wort, herbal medicine for depression
  • dexamethasone (corticosteroid used to treat inflammatory and autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis)
  • dantrolene (infusion for severe body temperature abnormalities)
  • tacrolimus (medicine used to alter the way your immune system works)
  • simvastatin (cholesterol lowering medicine)
  • cyclosporine (an immunosuppressant)
  • phenobarbital, phenytoin and carbamazepine (medicines for epilepsy)
  • sildenafil (medicine for impotence)
  • lithium containing medicines to treat some types of depression
  • inhibitor or aliskiren
  • medicines used to treat high blood pressure or of medicines with blood pressure lowering potential (e.g. baclofen, amifostine)
  • heart medicines (e.g. digoxin) or medicines to control the rhythm of your heart (e.g. quinidine, disopyramide)
  • medicines used for mental disorders (e.g. thioridazine, chlorpromazine, levomepromazine)

Dosage

  • Always take TAH 40MG tablets exactly as your doctor has told you
  • TAH 40MG can be used before or after food
  • You should take this medicine at the same time each day with a drink of water
  • Do not take TAH 40MG with grapefruit juice

 If you take more TAH 40MG tablets

  • If you or someone else has taken too much TAH 40MG, contact your nearest hospital casualty department

If you forget to take TAH 40MG tablets

  • If you forget to take a tablet,leave out that dose completely. Take your next dose at the right time
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking TAH 40MG tablets

  • Your doctor will advise you how long to take this medicine
  • Your condition may return if you stop using this medicine before you are advised

Amlodipine

  • sudden wheeziness, chest pain, shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing
  • swelling of eyelids, face or lips
  • swelling of the tongue and throat which causes great difficulty breathing
  • severe skin reactions including intense skin rash, hives, reddening of the skin over your whole body, severe itching, blistering, peeling and swelling of the skin, inflammation of mucous membranes (Stevens Johnson Syndrome) toxic epidermal necrolysis or other allergic reactions
  • heart attack, abnormal heart beat
  • inflamed pancreas which may cause severe abdominal and back pain accompanied with feeling very unwell

 

Hydrochlorothiazide + Telmisartan

  • increase in pressure unusual reaction, resulting in a decrease in vision and eye pain
  • fluid or electrolyte imbalance include dry mouth, weakness, lethargy, drowsiness, restlessness, muscle pain or cramps, nausea (feeling sick), vomiting, tired muscles, and an abnormally fast heart rate (faster than 100 beats per minute)
  • increased sensitivity of the skin to the sun with symptoms of sunburn (such as redness, itching, swelling, blistering) occurring more quickly than normal
  • sepsis, swelling of skin and mucosa
