What TACROMENT 0.03% is used for?

 It is used to,

  • treat moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) which is an over-reaction of the skin’s immune system in adults who are not adequately responsive to or are intolerant of conventional therapies such as topical corticosteroids
  • prevent flares coming back or prolong the time you are free from flares

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic to tacrolimus or any of the other ingredients of TACROMENT 0.03% or to macrolide antibiotics (e.g. azithromycin, clarithromycin, erythromycin)
  • have liver failure
  • have any skin malignancies (tumours)
  • have a weakened immune system
  • have an inherited skin barrier disease such extensive scaling of the skin due to a thickening of the outer layer of the skin, or if you suffer from generalized erythroderma (inflammatory reddening and scaling of the entire skin), any change to the appearance of your skin
  • have a cutaneous Graft versus Host Disease (an immune reaction of the skin which is a common complication in patients who have undergone a bone marrow transplant)
  • have swollen lymph nodes
  • Don’t use TACROMENT 0.03% if you are pregnant or breast-feeding
  • Ask your doctor for advice before taking any medicine
  • TACROMENT 0.03% is not approved for children younger than 16 years of age. Therefore, it should not be used in this age group

Tell your doctor if you are using,

  • moisturizing creams and lotions during treatment with TACROMENT 0.03%
  • other preparations to be used on the skin or while taking oral corticosteroids (e.g. cortisone) or medicines which affect the immune system
  • Always use TACROMENT 0.03% exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Apply as a thin layer to affected areas of your skin
  • It may be used on most parts of the body, including the face and neck and in the creases of your elbows and knees
  • Avoid using the medicine inside your nose or mouth or in your eyes
  • If this medicine gets on any of these areas, it should be thoroughly wiped off and/or rinsed off with water
  • Wash your hands after applying TACROMENT 0.03% unless your hands are also being treated
  • Before applying TACROMENT 0.03
