STERNON 0.05% contains Betamethasone which belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids, which reduces swelling and irritation. It is used to treat skin problems such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis. Eczema is skin disease, which causes the skin to become red and itchy. Dermatitis is inflammation of the skin. Psoriasis is a skin disease in which itchy, scaly, pink patches develops on the elbows, knees, scalp and other parts of the body.
Betamethasone gives an inflammatory action by vasoconstriction of blood capillaries, thereby reducing inflammatory symptoms. It acts as a topical keratolytic, which removes the scales allowing better penetration of topical steroid.
Always use this STERNON 0.05% as advised by your doctor. Tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not suitable for use in children below 1 year of age. Avoid this medicine get into your eyes. The most common side effects are application site reactions such as burning, pain, irritation or itching. It should not be used under bandages or plasters.
STERNON 0.05% works by reducing the inflammation in the affected area to reduce the redness, swelling and itchiness of the skin.
