INTRODUCTION

SORONIL contains Calcipotriol which belongs to a group of medicines called anti-psoriatics. It is used to treat topical treatment of plaque psoriasis. It is a type of vitamin D which controls how the cells in your skin grow. Psoriasis is a condition where skin develops raised red patches and silver coloured scaly patches. These scaly patches are dead cells that would normally fall off your skin without you noticing. It works by reducing the amount of cells your skin makes which reduces the skin symptoms.

Calcipotriol is a synthetic analog of vitamin D3 occurs in the human body. Calcipotriol is the metabolite of cholecalciferol (inactive vitamin D3). It binds to vitamin D receptors on epidermal cells and tissue cells. Activation of this ligand-receptor complex results in inhibition of proliferation of keratinocytes and induction of cell differentiation in psoriatic skin.

It is not recommended for children below 6 years of age.  The common side effects are skin irritation, burning and itching.
