What is SOMPRAZ-D SR 20MG?

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you:
- are allergic to domperidone, esomeprazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- have severe liver or kidney problems
- have a blockage in your intestines
- have heart problems
- have a medical condition that alters the potassium level in blood
- have osteoporosis
Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines such as
- ketoconazole, fluconazole or voriconazole used for fungal infections
- phenytoin used to treat epilepsy
- warfarin used to treat and prevent blood clots
- erythromycin, clarithromycin, moxifloxacin used for bacterial infections
- amiodarone, quinidine disopyramide, sotalol, diltiazem used for heart problems or high blood pressure
- haloperidol, pimozide, sertindole used to treat psychoses
- citalopram, escitalopram, imipramine used to treat depression
- cisapride, dolasetron, prucalopride used to treat gastro-intestinal disorders
- mequitazine, mizolastine used to treat allergy
- halofantrine used to treat malaria
- toremifene, vincamine, erlotinib used to treat cancer
- atazanavir used to treat HIV
- cilostazol (used to treat intermittent claudication – a pain in your legs when you walk which is caused by an insufficient blood supply)
- clopidogrel used to prevent blood clots
- digoxin used for heart problems
- tacrolimus, methotrexate used to reduce the immune response
- rifampicin used for treatment of tuberculosis
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
- You can take SOMPRAZ-D SR 20MG after food or on an empty stomach
- Swallow SOMPRAZ-D SR 20MG whole with a drink of water
- Do not chew or crush this medicine
If you take more SOMPRAZ-D SR 20MG
- If you have taken more SOMPRAZ-D SR 20MG, contact your doctor immediately
If you forget to take SOMPRAZ-D SR 20MG
- If you miss a dose, take your medicine as soon as you remember
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
If you stop taking SOMPRAZ-D SR 20MG
- Do not stop taking SOMPRAZ-D SR 20MG until your doctor advises you to do so
Like all medicines, this medicine may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Domperidone:
- swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips or throat which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing, itchy, lumpy rash or nettle rash
- very fast or unusual heartbeat
Esomeprazole:
- fracture of the hip, wrist or spine (if esomeprazole is used in high doses and over long duration)
Domperidone:
- dry mouth
Esomeparzole:
- headache
- diarrhoea, stomach pain, constipation, flatulence
- nausea or vomiting
- benign polyps in the stomach
Domperidone:
- anxiety
- sleepiness or headache
- diarrhoea
- rash or itchiness
- painful or tender breasts, or discharge from breasts
Esomeprazole:
- swelling of the feet and ankles
- disturbed sleep (insomnia)
- dizziness, tingling sensation, feeling sleepy
- vertigo
- dry mouth
- changes in blood tests that check how the liver is working
- skin rash, lumpy rash (hives) and itchy skin
Esomeprazole:
- low levels of sodium in the blood
- feeling agitated, confused or depressed
- eyesight problems such as blurred vision
- suddenly feeling wheezy or short of breath (bronchospasm)
- an infection called “thrush” which can affect the gut and is caused by a fungus
- hair loss (alopecia)
- skin rash on exposure to sunshine
- joint pains (arthralgia) or muscle pains (myalgia)
- increased sweating
