INTRODUCTION

SHANTYPH contains Typhoid vaccine which belongs to the group of medicines called Bacterial vaccines. It is used to prevent typhoid fever both in the adults and in the children (aged 6 months or above). Typhoid is a bacterial infection which is characterized by prolonged high fever, sore throat, cough and altered behaviour.

Typhoid vaccine offers immunity against typhoid fever by causing a mild infection. It stimulates our body to produce protective antibodies against the bacteria that causes typhoid.

SHANTYPH cannot cure any infections (such as typhoid fever, parathyroid fever, or food poisoning) that has been already developed in the body. It can only be used to protect yourself from getting infected before exposing yourself to the susceptible bacteria.

Do not receive SHANTYPH if you or your child are allergic to any of its ingredients or has a very high fever. You must also inform your doctor if you or your child has a very weak immune system (due to any severe infections) or any type of blood disorders (haemophilia).

Before receiving SHANTYPH, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or breastfeeding. SHANTYPH is generally safe and does not cause any side effects. However, it may cause few minor side effects like pain, redness and swelling at the site of injection, mild fever, headache or muscle pain. These side effects are usually temporary and disappears within a few days. However, consult your doctor if they worsen.
