RELITIL INJECTION contains Chlorpromazine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antipsychotics. It is used to treat the following conditions such as schizophrenia and other psychoses (especially paranoid), mania and hypomania, anxiety psychomotor agitation excitement, violent or dangerously impulsive behaviour, intractable hiccup and nausea, vomiting of terminal illness (where other medicines have failed or are not available). It is also used to treat schizophrenia and autism (in children).
It is not recommended for use in patients with CNS depression, bone marrow depression and Phaeochromocytoma. Consult your doctor for advice before receiving the medicine.
Before receiving this medicine inform your doctor if you have heart diseases, liver disease or kidney problems, thyroid, epilepsy, and parkinson’s disease.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctors before receiving this medicine. Tell your doctor if you will be exposed to extreme heat, or to insecticide poisons while you are taking this medicine.
The most common side effects are drowsiness, dry mouth or stuffy nose, blurred vision, constipation and impotence. Consult your doctor if any of the above side effects gets worse.
It is used to treat the following conditions:
RELITIL INJECTION exerts its antipsychotic effect by blocking postsynaptic dopamine receptors in cortical and limbic areas of the brain, thereby preventing the excess of dopamine in the brain.
RELITIL INJECTION will be administered intramuscularly or intravenously by your doctor or nurse. Your doctor will administer the correct dose for you depending upon your conditions.
Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any side effects after receiving the medicine:
Dry mouth:
Chew sugar-free gum. Control caffeine intake. Do not use mouthwashes. Sip water regularly.
Constipation:
Eat fiber rich foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables and cereals, and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly.
RELITIL INJECTION is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before receiving this medicine.
RELITIL INJECTION is not recommended for use in breast feeding women as it may pass into breast milk. Consult your doctor before receiving this medicine.
Do not drive or operate any machines, after receiving RELITIL INJECTION since it may reduce the alertness.
Avoid consumption of alcohol while receiving this medicine.
RELITIL INJECTION should be used with caution in patients suffering from kidney diseases. Consult your doctor before receiving this medicine.
RELITIL INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with liver failure or active liver disease. Consult your doctor before receiving this medicine.
Do not receive RELITIL INJECTION if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Chlorpromazine or other ingredients of this medicine.

Overdosage:
RELITIL INJECTION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if you experience any unusual symptoms. Symptoms of overdose includes dry mouth, bloating or stomach cramps, feeling restless, fever, muscle stiffness, jerky muscle movements, changes in heart rate, fainting, or seizure (convulsions).

Does RELITIL INJECTION cause any side effects?
