INTRODUCTION

RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION is a combination of Ceftriaxone and Sulbactam which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used in the treatment of infections of the brain (meningitis), lungs, middle ear, abdomen and abdominal wall (peritonitis), urinary tract and kidneys, bones and joints, skin or soft tissues, blood, and heart.

RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION can also be used to treat specific sexually transmitted infections (gonorrhoea and syphilis), patients with low white blood cell counts (neutropenia) who have fever due to bacterial infection, Lyme disease (caused by tick bites) and to prevent infections during surgery

RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in premature babies and new-born babies having jaundice. Before receiving RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney diseases, colitis, haemolytic anaemia, gall stones or kidney stones, upcoming surgeries, pancreatitis.

RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION should be used with caution in pregnancy and breast feeding. Contact your doctor before receiving. RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in premature babies. Contact your child’s doctor. RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years or above). Contact your doctor before receiving.

The most common side effects of receiving RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION are, diarrhoea, rash, itching, pain at the site of injection, inflammation of a vein caused by a blood clots. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.

Treat bacterial infections involving:

HOW RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION WORKS

RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION helps to treat infections, where Ceftriaxone is a cephalosporin antibiotic which works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell wall, leading to destruction of the bacteria and sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which works by binding and inhibiting beta-lactamase (an enzyme that destroys antibiotic activity) produced by bacterial cells and thereby prevents the reduction in antibacterial activity.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a vein as an intravenous injection or infusion or into a muscle as intramuscular injection. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION for you depending upon your age, body weight and severity of disease condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION

COMMON

  • pain, tenderness, warmth, tightness at the injection site
  • rash
  • low count of the blood cells
  • diarrhoea
  • changes in liver function tests characterised by abdominal pain, yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine, pale stools

UNCOMMON

  • inflammation of the vein
  • itching
  • fever, chills
  • genital fungal infections
  • nausea, vomiting
  • changes in taste
  • headache
  • dizziness

RARE

Stop receiving RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • allergic reaction such as rash, red skin, blistering of lips, eyes, and mouth, skin peeling, high fever, flu-like symptoms, increased level of liver enzymes and increase in eosinophils and enlarged lymph nodes.
  • sudden swelling of the throat or face causing difficulty in breathing or swallowing, sudden swelling of the hands, feet and ankles

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Headache:

Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes and apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Do not consume alcohol. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

Nausea:

Stick to simple meals while receiving RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Do not take any medication on your own. Ask for your doctor’s advice if nausea doesn’t improve.

Vomiting:

Eat light, bland foods and avoid fried, oily, or sweet foods. Avoid carbonated drinks. Ask for your doctor’s advice if vomiting doesn’t improve.

Diarrhoea:

Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for treating diarrhea. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

Dizziness:

Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

Stomach pain:

Try to rest and relax. Eat small meals but take frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.

PREGNANCY

RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before receiving RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION.

BREASTFEEDING

RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before receiving.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizziness after receiving RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION.

KIDNEY

RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease such as kidney stones. Consult your doctor before receiving RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION.

LIVER

RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Consult your doctor before receiving.

ALLERGY

Do not receive RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION if you are allergic to ceftriaxone, sulbactam or to penicillin or similar antibiotics like carbapenems or monobactams or lidocaine or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

OTHERS

Tell your physician before receiving RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION if you have or had:

  • gut problems like colitis (inflammation of the bowel)
  • pancreatitis
  • haemolytic anaemia
  • low sodium diet
  • upcoming surgeries
  • gall bladder stones
  • blood tests (coombs test) or urine test (for glucose)

Use in paediatrics:

RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in premature babies and new-born babies with jaundice. Ask for the advice of your child’s doctor.

Use in geriatrics:

RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or above). Your doctor might consider lowering your doses depending upon your health condition. Contact your doctor before receiving RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug – Drug Interactions:

Before receiving RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • medicine used to treat blood cancer (Ex. amsacrine)
  • medicines used to treat certain infections (Ex. vancomycin, chloramphenicol, tobramycin, gentamycin)
  • medicine used to treat fungal infections (Ex. fluconazole)
  • medicines used to prevent pregnancy, oral contraceptives (Ex. ethinyl estradiol, levonorgestrel)
  • medicines used to treat blood clots (Ex. dabigatran, rivaroxaban)
  • medicines used to treat gout (Ex. probenecid)
  • calcium containing diluents such as ringers’ solution and Hartman’s solution

Overdosage:

RECOZONE SB 750MG INJECTION will be administered only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if there are any unusual symptoms.
