INTRODUCTION

RABIFAST IV INJECTION contains Rabeprazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Proton pump inhibitors. It is used to treat Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and peptic ulcer. It is used as an alternative to oral therapy when patients are not able to swallow rabeprazole orally.

GERD is a chronic digestive disease in which the stomach acid frequently flows into the oesophagus leading to the irritation of lining of the food pipe. Symptoms include heartburn, chest pain, nausea, sensation of lump in throat and stomach discomfort.

Peptic ulcers are painful sores that develop on the linings of the stomach, oesophagus and/or intestines. Symptoms include stomach pain, flatulence, indigestion, vomiting and fatigue.

RABIFAST IV INJECTION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the vein. Before starting the treatment with RABIFAST IV INJECTION inform your doctor if you have any liver problems. USES OF RABIFAST IV INJECTION

HOW RABIFAST IV INJECTION WORKS

RABIFAST IV INJECTION is a proton pump inhibitor. It reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach by blocking the actions of an enzyme called H+ K+ ATPase (also known as proton pump) which is present in the lining of the stomach walls. As a result, it reduces the chances for acid reflux into the oesophagus, heals peptic ulcers and esophageal lesions and prevents its recurrence.
