What are the uses of RABEVAG INJECTION?
RABEVAG INJECTION is used to treat Gastro-esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and peptic ulcer in patients who are not able to swallow rabeprazole orally.
How RABEVAG INJECTION works?
RABEVAG INJECTION is a proton pump inhibitor. It reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach by blocking the actions of an enzyme called H+ K+ ATPase (also known as proton pump) which is present in the lining of the stomach walls. As a result, it reduces the chances for acid reflux into the oesophagus, heals peptic ulcers and esophageal lesions and prevents its recurrence.
How long will it take for RABEVAG INJECTION to cure my disease?
The time taken for healing depends on the severity of the disease. You may notice improvement in your condition within 1-2 days of therapy with RABEVAG INJECTION. However, it may take several weeks for RABEVAG INJECTION to completely heal the ulcers.
When should I take RABEVAG INJECTION?
RABEVAG INJECTION is not meant for self-administration. It will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the vein (as intravenously).
What are the long-term side effects of RABEVAG INJECTION?
Taking RABEVAG INJECTION especially over the time of a year can slightly increase the risk of hip, wrist, or spine fracture. Inform your doctor if you suffer from osteoporosis or if you are taking corticosteroids which can increase the risk of osteoporosis. It may also cause vitamin B12 deficiency and low magnesium levels in the blood.
Can I stop therapy with RABEVAG INJECTION once my symptoms subside?
Do not stop therapy with RABEVAG INJECTION without consulting your doctor even if you feel better during the midway of the therapy. Make sure to receive all the doses of RABEVAG INJECTION for the stipulated duration recommended by your doctor to achieve complete healing of ulcers.
What precautions should be followed while taking RABEVAG INJECTION?
Before receiving RABEVAG INJECTION inform your doctor if you have any liver problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have vitamin B12 deficiency, osteoporosis or any tumors in your stomach. Inform your doctor before receiving RABEVAG INJECTION if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Regularly visit your doctor and take all the necessary blood test recommended by your doctor without fail. You must also inform your doctor immediately if you experience severe uncontrollable diarrhea with stomach pain or tenderness after receiving RABEVAG INJECTION.
Can I take RABEVAG INJECTION daily?
Your doctor will evaluate your health condition and suggest whether you need to take RABEVAG INJECTION every day or not.
Can the use of RABEVAG INJECTION affect the liver?
Yes. RABEVAG INJECTION may affect the way your liver work. Therefore, it should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
