What is QTR ALFA 0.25mg Capsule used for?

QTR ALFA 0.25mg Capsule is used to treat the following conditions:

  • Renal osteodystrophy (condition when kidney fails to maintain proper levels of calcium and phosphorus in blood bone disease occurs);
  • Hyperparathyroidism (with bone disease) (caused due to malfunctioning of the parathyroid gland);
  • Neonatal hypocalcaemia (low calcium in blood for new born babies);
  • Osteomalacia (softening and deformity of the bones due to lack of calcium);
  • Malabsorptive rickets (defective mineralization or calcification of bones due to deficiency or low absorption of the minerals and vitamins);
  • Pseudo-deficiency (D-dependent) rickets and osteomalacia.

QTR ALFA 0.25mg Capsule in may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How does QTR ALFA 0.25mg Capsule work?

QTR ALFA 0.25mg Capsule is a type of vitamin D. For a healthy bone and teeth, you need calcium and phosphate. Vitamin D controls the levels of calcium and phosphate in your body. Calcium metabolism is disturbed due to impaired 1 α-hydroxylation. QTR ALFA 0.25mg Capsule treats this metabolic problem.

If your body needs changes in the level of calcium and phosphate QTR ALFA 0.25mg Capsule helps to increase the amount of Vitamin D. It is also known as One-Alpha.

How to take QTR ALFA 0.25mg Capsule?

  • The dosage of oral capsules of QTR ALFA 0.25mg Capsule depends on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. Take QTR ALFA 0.25mg Capsule as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Use the medicine at the same time unless directed by your doctor.
  • You will have weekly blood tests to check the levels of calcium, an enzyme called alkaline phosphatase or the parathyroid hormone per which your doctor will suggest you the dose till the correct dose is defined.
  • You must take x-rays also before the dosage is decided upon.
  • QTR ALFA 0.25mg Capsule for children is decided by their weight.
  • If you miss a dose of QTR ALFA 0.25mg Capsule, please take it immediately once you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
