INTRODUCTION

PULMOSIL 10MG contains Sildenafil which belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. It is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension which decreases high pressure in the blood vessels that carry blood from the heart to the lungs (the pulmonary arteries). It is used for the treatment of patients with PAH who are currently prescribed oral sildenafil and who are temporarily unable to take oral medication.

Tell your doctor if you have severe heart or liver problems, if you have recently had a stroke or heart attack or if you have low blood pressure. It helps to improve your exercise ability. It is given under the supervision of a physician. It is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years. The common side effects are flushing, headache, stiffness, nosebleeds, blurred vision and muscle pain.

HOW PULMOSIL 10MG WORKS

Sildenafil works by relaxing the blood vessels in your lungs thereby reducing the high blood pressure in the lungs. This allows your heart to work less to pump blood in your lungs.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

PULMOSIL 10MG is given by a doctor or nurse. Your healthcare provider will administer this injection depending on your age, body weight and health condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF PULMOSIL 10MG

COMMON

  • flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck and trunk)
  • headache
  • stiffness
  • nosebleeds
  • blurred vision
  • muscle pain

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Headache:

Rest and drink plenty of fluids.

PREGNANCY

BREASTFEEDING

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

PULMOSIL 10MG may cause dizziness or altered vision. Do not drive or handle any machines while receiving this medicine.

ALCOHOL

Do not drink excessive amounts of alcohol while receiving this medicine.

KIDNEY

PULMOSIL 10MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER

PULMOSIL 10MG is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY

Do not take if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Sildenafil or any other ingredients in this medicine.

HEART DISEASE

PULMOSIL 10MG is not recommended in patients with severe heart disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

OTHERS

Tell your doctor if you have or had a condition such as,

  • low blood pressure
  • inherited eye diseases (retinitis pigmentosa)
  • loss of vision
  • deformity of your penis or Peyronie’s disease
  • stomach ulcer or bleeding problem (haemophilia)
  • severe hypotension

INTERACTIONS

Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or the following:

  • nitroglycerin
  • amyl nitrite
  • riociguat (used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension)
  • protease inhibitors (used to treat HIV)
  • CYP3A4 inhibitors (ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir)
