What is PROVIDINE AM+ and why is it given?
PROVIDINE AM+ contains Ornidazole and Povidone Iodine which belongs to the group of medicines called Nitroimidazoles and Antiseptics. It is used to prevent, control, treat and improve condition and symptoms of wound infection, minor cuts, burns, boils, ulcers, blisters, abrasion and certain bacterial, fungal and protozoan infections, also used treat infections that occurs after surgical procedures.
What are the common side effects of PROVIDINE AM+?
The most common side effects associated with the use of PROVIDINE AM+ are local irritation, rashes, burning sensation, stinging and redness. Consult your doctor if any of the side effect worsens or bothers you.
Who should avoid applying PROVIDINE AM+?
PROVIDINE AM+ is not recommended for use in patients who are allergic to ornidazole and povidone iodine and it is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before using PROVIDINE AM+.
Can PROVIDINE AM+ be used in children?
PROVIDINE AM+ is not recommended for use in children (below 2 years of age) and in neonates. If PROVIDINE AM+ is accidentally ingested by a child or adolescent, go to the hospital immediately and consult the doctor for further management.
How PROVIDINE AM+ should be applied?
Apply PROVIDINE AM+ as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Clean and dry the affected area before the application. Wash your hands before and after applying PROVIDINE AM+. Avoid applying this medicine around your eyes, including eyelids. Your doctor will decide the duration of treatment depending upon the severity of the infection or wound.
