PRADIL 150MG TABLET contains Propafenone which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-arrhythmic agents. It is used to slow down the heart rate and helps to regulate the heartbeat. It can be used to treat and prevent arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms).
PRADIL 150MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with chronic bronchitis or emphysema (known as COPD), Brugada syndrome (a heart rhythm disorder), heart failure, abnormally slow heartbeat, low blood pressure, a recent heart attack in the past 3 months. PRADIL 150MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with asthma, liver and kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.
PRADIL 150MG TABLET should be used in pregnancy only if considered necessary. It is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
PRADIL 150MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children. It should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking it.
The most common side effects of taking PRADIL 150MG TABLET are dizziness, irregular heartbeat, heart palpitations. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.
PRADIL 150MG TABLET works by blocking abnormal electrical signals in the heart to correct irregular heartbeat to normal rhythm.
Take PRADIL 150MG TABLET as advised by your physician. It should be taken after food. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking PRADIL 150MG TABLET unless your doctor advises you to stop.
Stop taking PRADIL 150MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Dry mouth:
Dry mouth can be managed by chewing sugar-free gum or sucking on sugar-free hard candies to stimulate the flow of saliva. Sip water at regular intervals of time. Do not use mouthwashes that contain alcohol because they can be drying. Consult your doctor if the dry mouth gets worse.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or ORS (Oral Rehydrating Solution) and apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Contact your doctor if your headache did not improve.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Contact your doctor if your dizziness did not improve.
Nausea and vomiting:
Take PRADIL 150MG TABLET, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if your nausea and vomiting did not improve.
Constipation:
Take fiber rich foods in your diet such as fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grain cereals and drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly and stay active. Contact your doctor if constipation persist.
Stomach pain:
Try to have smaller meals but take frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Do not self-treat and contact your doctor if the stomach pain did not improve.
Skin rash:
Avoid hot bath because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing while going outside. Use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. Contact your doctor if your rashes worsen.
Flatulence:
Eat smaller and frequent meals. Eat and drink slowly and exercise regularly. If the flatulence does not improve, contact your doctor.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for treating diarrhoea. Contact your doctor if your diarrhoea did not improve.
Loss of appetite:
Eat when you are hungry. Eat smaller meals more often than usual. Snack only when you're hungry. Eat a nutritious snack which is rich in calories and protein, such as dried fruit and nuts. Contact your doctor if your appetite did not improve.
PRADIL 150MG TABLET should be used in pregnancy only if considered necessary by your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking it.
PRADIL 150MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience blurred vision, dizziness, tiredness and low blood pressure after taking PRADIL 150MG TABLET.
PRADIL 150MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with kidney disease and may require dose adjustment. Consult your doctor before taking it.
PRADIL 150MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with liver disease and may require dose adjustment. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Do not take PRADIL 150MG TABLET if you are allergic to Propafenone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
