What POVIDINE 5% is used for?
It is used to treat,
- skin infections
- disinfection of Wounds, cuts, abrasions and burns
- postoperative wounds
- prophylaxis against infection in hospital and surgery procedures

Talk to your doctor before using POVIDINE 5%, if you:
- are allergic to povidone iodine or any of the other ingredients
- have thyroid problems
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine
- POVIDINE 5% does not affect your ability to drive or use machines
Tell your doctor if you are taking,
- benzalkonium chloride
- bupivacaine liposomal (medicine used to reduce severe pain)
- lidocaine (topical anesthetic)
- collagenase
- lithium
- fibrin sealant, human (medicine used to control bleeding)
- Always apply this medicine as exactly as your doctor told you
- The affected area should be cleaned and dried
- Apply full strength, as a paint, or soak or spray as often as needed
- Do not use the dressing longer than 1 week
- For external use only
If you apply more POVIDINE 5%
- Contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital without delay
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
- irritation, swelling or redness
- systemic effects include metabolic acidosis
- Keep this medicine out of reach of children
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
- Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
