  • have developed kidney problems due to taking medicines which cause kidney damage
  • suffer from diabetes mellitus
  • suffer from gout
  • have hypovolaemia (an abnormally low volume of blood in the circulation)

Tell your doctor if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any of the following medicines:

  • itraconazole or ketoconazole (used to treat fungal infections)
  • ritonavir, nelfinavir (antiviral medication for treating HIV)
  • clarithromycin, telithromycin, trimethoprim (used to treat bacterial infections)
  • potassium sparing diuretics (Spironolactone) and potassium supplements (salt tablets)

  • lithium, medicine used to treat depresssion
