What is PANTANAM D?
- PANTANAM D contains domperidone and pantoprazole
- Domperidone belongs to a group of medicines called 'dopamine antagonists'
- Pantoprazole is a selective “proton pump inhibitor”, a medicine which reduces the amount of acid produced in your stomach

What PANTANAM D is used for?
It is used:
- for Reflux oesophagitis, an inflammation of your oesophagus accompanied by the regurgitation of stomach acid
- to treat infection with a bacterium called Helicobacter pylori in patients with duodenal ulcers and stomach ulcers in combination with two antibiotics (eradication therapy)
- to treat Zollinger-Ellison-Syndrome and other conditions producing too much acid in the stomach
- to treat nausea and vomiting
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:
- are allergic (hypersensitive) to domperidone, pantoprazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- are allergic to medicines containing other proton pump inhibitors
- have black, tarry bowel motions (stools) or notice blood in your bowel motions.
- have a blockage or tear in your intestines
- have a tumor of the pituitary gland called a prolactinoma
- have a moderate or severe liver and kidney disease
- have a heart problem called "prolonged QT corrected interval"
- have or had heart failure
- have a problem that gives you a low level of potassium or magnesium, or a high level of potassium in your blood
- are due to have a specific blood test (Chromogranin A)
- suffer from unintentional loss of weight
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
Talk to your doctor if you are taking medicines such as,
- oral ketoconazole, fluconazole or voriconazole used for fungal infections
- erythromycin, clarithromycin, telithromycin, moxifloxacin, pentamidine used for bacterial infections
- heart problems or high blood pressure (e.g., amiodarone, dronedarone, quinidine, disopyramide, dofetilide, sotalol, diltiazem, verapamil)
- haloperidol, pimozide, sertindole used for psychoses
- citalopram, escitalopram used for depression
- gastro-intestinal disorders (e.g., cisapride, dolasetron, prucalopride)
- mequitazine, mizolastine used for allergy
- halofantrine used for malaria
- protease inhibitors used for AIDS/HIV
- toremifene, vandetanib, vincamine, erlotinib used for cancer
- apomorphine
- warfarin and phenprocoumon, which affect the thickening, or thinning of the blood
- methotrexate (used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and cancer)
- fluvoxamine (used to treat depression and other psychiatric diseases)
- rifampicin (used to treat infections)
- St John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum) (used to treat mild depression)
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
- For oral use only
- It must be swallowed with a glass of water
- Take this medicine 30 minutes before meals
If you take more PANTANAM D
- If you or someone else have used or taken too much PANTANAM D, contact your doctor or nearest hospital casualty department immediately
If you forget to take PANTANAM D
- If you miss a dose, take your medicine as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until that is due and continue as usual. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
If you stop taking PANTANAM D
- Do not stop taking PANTANAM D without first talking to your doctor
Like all medicines, the medicine can have side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Domperidone:
- swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips or throat
- difficulty in swallowing or breathing
- uncontrolled movements - irregular eye movements, unusual movements of the tongue, and abnormal posture such as a twisted neck, trembling and muscle stiffness
- very fast or unusual heartbeat
Pantoprazole:
- swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips or throat which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing
Domperidone:
- anxiety
- loss of interest in sex
- sleepiness or headache, diarrhoea
- rash or itchiness
- painful or tender breasts, or discharge from breasts
- a general feeling of weakness
Pantoprazole:
- headache, dizziness
- feeling sick, vomiting bloating and flatulence (wind)
- constipation
- abdominal pain and discomfort
- skin rash, exanthema, eruption
- itching, feeling weak, exhausted or generally unwell
- sleep disorders
- fracture in the hip, wrist or spine
- increase in liver enzymes
Pantoprazole:
- distortion or complete lack of the sense of taste
- disturbances in vision such as blurred vision
- hives, weight changes
- pain in the joints or muscle
- raised body temperature- sharp drop in circulating granular white blood cells
- swelling of the extremities (peripheral oedema)
- allergic reactions, depression
- breast enlargement in males
- increase in bilirubin, increased fat levels in blood
