OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION contains Olanzapine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antipsychotics. It is used in the treatment and control of agitation, disturbed behavior in adult patients with schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is characterized by hearing, seeing or sensing things which are not there, mistaken beliefs, unusual suspiciousness, may also feel depressed, anxious.
Along with this treatment, your doctor might ask you to make certain lifestyle changes such as eating a healthy diet, regular exercise, quitting alcohol. Prior to the treatment, your doctor may want you to take several blood tests to understand your existing condition. Avoid consumption of alcohol during treatment with OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION as it can make you feel drowsy.
OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients previously diagnosed with eye problems like glaucoma. Before receiving OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have a history of blood clotting, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, prostate, intestine, heart, liver or kidney disease, diabetes, and seizures.
OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION should be used with caution among women who are pregnant. OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women and in children below 18 years of age. OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION should be used with caution in elderly patients with dementia as it can cause death. Consult your doctor before receiving OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION.
The most common side effects of receiving OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION are changes in the levels of some blood cells, weight gain, sleepiness and feeling dizzy.
OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION exerts its action primarily on certain chemical messengers in the nervous system (dopamine and serotonin). It blocks the action of dopamine, allowing for normal dopamine neurotransmission, which leads to a decrease in positive symptoms in patients like hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized speech, thought, and behavior. It also blocks the action of serotonin helping in the decrease of negative symptoms like poor speech, being unable to express emotions, low motivation, and poor attention.
OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the muscle (intramuscularly). Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop receiving OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Dizziness:
Lie down until dizziness is resolved, then get up slowly. Get adequate rest. Drink plenty of water and other fluids. Avoid coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs. Consult your doctor if your symptom gets worse or persist.
Dry mouth:
Sip water regularly and other sugar free liquids. Do not use alcohol-containing mouthwashes because they can make your mouth dry, use the one that is used only for dry mouth. Limit your caffeine intake. Avoid smoking or using tobacco products. Consult your doctor if your symptom gets worse or persist.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if your symptom gets worse or persist.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Try to have smaller and more frequent meals and have them slowly. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Consult your doctor if your symptom gets worse or persist.
OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it can pass through breast milk. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
Do not drive and use machines after receiving OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION, as it can make you feel drowsy.
Do not drink alcohol while receiving OXALITERO 100MG INJECTION, as it can make you feel drowsy.
