What OT 200/500MG is used for?

It is used to treat:

  • urinary tract infections (bladder and kidneys infection)
  • genital tract infections in men and women (gonorrhoea)
  • skin and soft tissue infection
  • infections of stomach such as amoebiasis and giardiasis

Talk to your doctor if you:

  • are allergic to any other ingredients of this medicine
  • have epilepsy
  • have nervous system (CNS) problem
  • have liver or kidney problem
  • have heart disease
  • This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  •  Consult your doctor for advice before giving this medicine to children
  • Do not drive or operate any machines while taking this medicine since it may cause dizziness, sleepiness and problems with your eyesight

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • quinidine, hydroquinidine, disopyramide, amiodarone (used to treat heart problems)
  • erythromycin, azithromycin or clarithromycin (used to treat bacterial infection)
  • medicines used for high blood pressure
  • medicines that contain iron (for anaemia) or zinc
  • antacids that contain magnesium or aluminium (used for indigestion)
  • glibenclamide (used for diabetes)
  • probecenid (used for gout)
  • sucralfate (used for stomach ulcers)
  • amitriptyline, clomipramine or imipramine (used to treat depression)
  • theophylline (used for breathing problems)
  • amiodarone, quinidine, procainamide or disopyramide (used to control your heartbeat)
  • ibuprofen, diclofenac or indomethacin (used for pain relief and inflammation)
  • corticosteroids (used for inflammation)
  • antipsychotics used to treat psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder
  • warfarin (used to treat or prevent blood clots)
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • This medicine can be swallowed with a whole glass of water
  • Do not crush or chew the medicine

If you take more  OT 200/500MG

  • If you take more of this medicine, talk to your doctor or go to a nearest hospital immediately
  • Symptoms of overdose: confusion, dizziness or loss of consciousness

If you forget to take OT 200/500MG

  • If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember it, however if it is nearly time for the next dose skip the missed dose
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you Stop taking OT 200/500MG

  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells to do so

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • sleeping problems

  • numbness or tingling in the hands and feet or being very sensitive to touch

  • a general feeling of being unwell
  • sleeplessness
  • difficulty in breathing
  • shaking of the hands or feet
  • fast heartbeat, feel faint
  • watery diarrhoea
  • stomach cramps and a high temperature
  • fits or seizures
  • hearing problems or hearing loss
  • liver problems that may cause your eyes or skin to go yellow (jaundice)
  • flu-like symptoms, painful red or purplish rash that spreads and blisters
  • muscle weakness, joint and muscle pains
  • swelling or discomfort in your tendons
  • severe depression or mental illness
  • thrombocytopenia
  • cough or shortness of breath, caused by lung inflammation
