What ORAP 4MG is used for?

It is used for illnesses affecting the way you think, feel or behave. These illnesses may make you:

  • feel confused
  • see, hear or feel things that are not there (hallucinations)
  • believe things that are not true (delusions)
  • feel unusually suspicious (paranoia)

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic or hypersensitive to Pimozide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have ever had an irregular heart beat (arrhythmia) or unusually slow heart beat (bradycardia)
  • have recently had a heart attack or have heart failure
  • have lower than normal levels of minerals (electrolytes) in your blood
  • have Parkinson’s disease
  • are suffering from depression
  • have liver or kidney problems
  • have epilepsy or any other problem that can cause fits (convulsions)
  • have problems with your thyroid gland
  • have a non-cancerous tumor of the adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma)
  • have a history of blood clots
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • Symptoms may occur in newborn babies of mothers that have used ORAP 4MG in the last trimester (last three months of their pregnancy): shaking, muscle stiffness and/or weakness, sleepiness, agitation, breathing problems and difficulty in feeding
  • It may affect you being able to drive. Do not drive or use any tools or machines without discussing this with your doctor first

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • ketoconazole, itraconazole, miconazole, fluconazole (used to treat fungal infections)
  • erythromycin, clarithromycin, azithromycin, troleandomycin (used to treat infections)
  • indinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir (used to treat viral infections)
  • quinidine, disopyramide, procainamide, amiodarone, sotalol, bretylium (used to treat heart problems)
  • terfenadine (used to treat allergies)
  • cisapride (used to treat digestive problems)
  • mefloquine, quinine (used to treat malaria)
  • nefazodone, amitriptyline, maprotiline, sertraline, paroxetine, citalopram, escitalopram (used to treat depression)
  • chlorpromazine, thioridazine, sertindole (used to treat mental illness)
  • sibutramine (used for weight control)
  • metoclopramide (used to treat sickness)
  • tranquillizers (used to treat anxiety or help you to sleep)
  • medicines to treat severe pain - strong painkillers
  • medicines to treat parkinson's disease
  • medicines to treat epilepsy or fits (convulsions)
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Take this medicine with or without food
  • Swallow the medicine with some water

If you take more ORAP 4MG

  • If you take more of your medicine than you should, contact your doctor

If you forget to take ORAP 4MG

  • If you forget to take a dose, take your next dose as usual. Then keep taking your medicine as your doctor has told you
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking ORAP 4MG

  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless told to do so by your doctor
  • Stopping treatment suddenly may cause effects such as nausea or vomiting, difficulty sleeping, sweating

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Very Rare
  • rash, hives, severe irritation of skin
  • fast heartbeat, changing blood pressure and sweating followed by fever, faster breathing, muscle stiffness, reduced consciousness, raised levels of a protein in your blood
  • arrhythmia, flutters (fibrillates), beats unusually fast (tachycardia), cardiac arrest
  • jerky movements, slowness, muscle stiffness or spasm, shaking, trembling or tremors, feeling restless and stiff neck
  • more saliva than normal, twitching or unusual movements of the tongue, face, mouth, jaw or throat, difficulty speaking or rolling of the eyes
  • tiredness and confusion, muscle twitching, fits or coma
  • sweating more than usual
  • urinating (passing water) at night
  • feeling dizzy or sleepy or agitated or depressed
  • difficulty in sleeping
  • feeling tired or lacking in energy
  • loss of appetite, dry mouth, constipation
  • headache
  • blurred vision
  • in men, erection problems
  • weight gain
  • in women, no monthly period
  • swollen face

  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children
  • Store at a room temperature of 15-25°C
