What is OMNIKACIN 100mg Injection used for?

OMNIKACIN 100mg Injection is used in the treatment of

  • Serious infections due to susceptible strains of bacteria (coli, Proteus, Klebsiella, Provindencia, Enterobacter, Pseudomonas sp., Serratia, Citrobacter);
  • Infections due to infections that cannot be treated by other aminoglycoside drugs;
  • Staphylococcal infection (second line treatment).

OMNIKACIN 100mg Injection may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How does OMNIKACIN 100mg Injection work?

OMNIKACIN 100mg Injection belongs to a group of antibiotic medicines known as aminoglycosides. OMNIKACIN 100mg Injection acts on the bacterial cell and inhibits the protein synthesis in bacteria, which is needed for their survival, thereby killing the bacteria.

How to take OMNIKACIN 100mg Injection ?

  • The dosage of intravenous (injection into vein) or intramuscular (injection into muscle) injection of OMNIKACIN 100mg Injection depends on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. OMNIKACIN 100mg Injection injection must be given in the hospital under supervision of your doctor.
  • OMNIKACIN 100mg Injection is usually injected into the muscle. It may be given in the vein, either as an injection or as an infusion (following dilution in a drip).
