What is OMNIBACT FORTE INJECTION used for?
OMNIBACT FORTE INJECTION is a combination of Cefoperazone and Sulbactam which belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics. It is used to treat several bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections (upper and lower), intra-abdominal infections, septicemia, meningitis, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, gonorrhea, endometritis, pelvic inflammatory disease and other infections of the genital tract.
How does OMNIBACT FORTE INJECTION work?
OMNIBACT FORTE INJECTION contains cefoperazone and sulbactam. Cefoperazone works by stopping the formation of bacterial cell coverings, which makes the bacteria susceptible for killing. Sulbactam works by reducing bacterial resistance and enhancing the activity of cefoperazone against the bacteria. Together, they helps to treat various bacterial infections.
How OMNIBACT FORTE INJECTION is administered?
OMNIBACT FORTE INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse, either into the vein (intravenously) or muscle (intramuscularly). Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and severity of the infection.
Is OMNIBACT FORTE INJECTION safe to use in patients with liver disease?
OMNIBACT FORTE INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with severe biliary obstruction (blockage of the bile ducts) and severe liver disease. Consult your doctor for advice before receiving OMNIBACT FORTE INJECTION.
What are the common side effects of OMNIBACT FORTE INJECTION?
The most common side effects of receiving OMNIBACT FORTE INJECTION are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and coagulopathy (impairment in the blood's ability to clot). Inform your doctor if any of these side effects bothers you.
