What OLMY M is used for?

It is used

  • for the treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure)

Talk to your doctor before taking OLMY M, if you:

  • are allergic (hypersensitive) to metoprolol or olmesartan or any of the other ingredients in the medicine
  • had heart failure, have poor circulation or very low blood pressure
  • have a very slow heart rate (less than 50 beats per minute)
  • have or have had breathing difficulties or lungs problems
  • have diabetes
  • suffer from Pheochromocytoma
  • have severe liver problems
  • have an overactive thyroid
  • This medicine is not recommended in pregnant women, as it may cause serious harm to your baby
  • Please inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding or planning to become pregnant
  • It is not recommended with the age below 6 years

If OLMY M are to be combined with the medicines listed below, you must consult your doctor:

  • calcium antagonists e.g. verapamil and diltiazem
  • centrally acting agents e.g. clonidine
  • digitalis glycosides (digoxin)
  • catecholamine depleting drugs (e.g. reserpine, monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors)
  • colesevelam hydrochloride
  • Always take OLMY M exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Tablets to be swallowed whole, not to be crushed, chewed or broken

If you take more OLMY M

  • If you take more OLMY M than you should or if a child accidentally swallows some, go to your doctor or nearest emergency department immediately

If you forget to take OLMY M

  • If you forget a dose, take your normal dose on the following day as usual. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking OLMY M

  • It is important to continue to take this medicine unless your doctor tells you to stop

Like all medicines, OLMY M can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • Central Nervous System: Reversible mental depression progressing to catatonia, an acute reversible syndrome characterized by disorientation for time and place, short-term memory loss, emotional lability, clouded sensorium, and decreased performance on neuropsychometrics
  • Hematologic: Agranulocytosis, nonthrombocytopenic purpura, thrombocytopenic purpura
  • Hypersensitive Reactions: Laryngospasm, respiratory distress
