What is OLMEZEST H 40MG?
- OLMEZEST H 40MG contains Olmesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide
- Olmesartan lowers blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels
- Hydrochlorothiazide lowers blood pressure by helping the body to get rid of extra fluid by making your kidneys produce more urine

Tell your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:
- are allergic to olmesartan medoxomil or hydrochlorothiazide or to any other ingredients of this medicine
- have severe kidney or liver problems
- have diabetes
- suffer from low potassium or low sodium, high calcium or high uric acid levels in the blood
- have problems with your heart valves or heart muscles
- have severe vomiting or diarrhoea
- are on a low salt diet
- have problems with your adrenal glands (e.g. primary aldosteronism)
- have lupus erythematosus
- have asthma
- consume alcohol
Tell your doctor if you are using, have recently used or might use any other medicines:
- other blood pressure lowering medicines (anti-hypertensives)
- potassium supplements (as well as salt substitutes containing potassium)
- diuretics
- heparin used to prevent blood clots
- laxatives
- steroids
- carbenoxolone (a medicine used to treat mouth and stomach ulcers)
- lithium (a medicine used to treat mood swings and some types of depression)
- medicines used to relieve pain, swelling and other symptoms of inflammation, including arthritis
- baclofen and tubocurarine, used to relax muscles
- quinidine, hydroquinidine or digitalis, used to treat heart problems
- medicines such as mizolastine, pentamidine, terfenadine, dofetilide, ibutilide or erythromycin injections
- oral anti-diabetic medicines, such as metformin or insulin, used to lower blood sugar
- diphemanil, used to treat a slow heartbeat or reduce sweating
- probenecid, sulfinpyrazone and allopurinol, used to treat gout
- calcium supplements
- amantadine, an anti-viral drug
- ciclosporin, a medicine used to stop rejection of organ transplants
- certain antibiotics called penicillin G sodium, tetracyclines or sparfloxacin
- amphotericin, a medicine used to treat fungal infections
- certain antacids, used to treat too much stomach acid, such as aluminium magnesium hydroxide
- cisapride, used to increase food movement in the stomach and gut
- halofantrine, used for malaria
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
- The recommended dose is one tablet a day
- Swallow the tablet with water
- If possible, you should take your dose at the same time each day, for example at breakfast time
If you take more OLMEZEST H 40MG
- If you take more tablets, go to your doctor or nearest hospital immediately
If you forget to take OLMEZEST H 40MG
- If you forget to take a dose, take your normal dose on the following day as usual. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
If you stop taking OLMEZEST H 40MG
- It is important to continue to take OLMEZEST H 40MG unless your doctor tells you to stop
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

- low blood pressure
- dizziness, weakness, headache, tiredness
- chest pain
- swelling of ankles, feet, legs, hands or arm
