INTRODUCTION
NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION contains Sodium chloride which belongs to the group of medicines called Electrolytes. It is used to replace the loss of sodium from the body. It can also be used to make up medicines that may be injected into your body and also used to irrigate the surfaces of your body. It can also be given as a priming solution before blood or other medicines are given to your body.
Before receiving NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION, inform your doctor if you have diabetes (high blood sugar), increased blood pressure during pregnancy and fluid retention.
NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION should be used with caution in patients having heart disease or heart failure. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
It should be used with caution in patients having impaired kidney function. Consult your doctor before receiving it. NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION should be used with caution among women who are pregnant or breastfeeding mothers.
The most common side effects of receiving NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION are pain at the site of injection and dehydration of internal organs. Consult your doctor if any of the above side effects worsen or persist for a longer duration.

PREGNANCY
NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION should be used with caution in pregnant women as there is no clear data on whether it may cause harm to the unborn baby. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
BREASTFEEDING
NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION should be used with caution in breastfeeding women as there is no clear data on whether it may pass through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machines if your ability is affected by NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION.
ALCOHOL
Avoid consumption of alcohol while receiving NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION because it may make you feel dizzier.
KIDNEY
NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION should be used with caution in patients with impaired kidney function. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.
ALLERGY
Do not receive NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION if you are allergic to Sodium chloride or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
HEART DISEASE
NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION should be used with caution in patients with heart disease or heart failure. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.
OTHERS
Before receiving NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION, inform your doctor if you:

- have fluid retention due to swelling of body parts
- have pseudohyponatremia (low level of salt in the blood due to high levels of protein or fat in the blood)
- have hyperlipidaemia (increased level of fat in the blood)
- have hyperproteinaemia (increased level of protein in your blood)
Use in paediatrics:
NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION should be used with caution in children. Your doctor will administer the right dose depending on your child’s age, body weight and disease condition. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.
Use in geriatrics:
NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION should be used with caution in elderly patients because of reduced renal function. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.

A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before receiving NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the prescription, non-prescription medicines and herbal supplements.
Overdosage:
It is unlikely to receive an overdose since it will be administered by your doctor or nurse. If you experience any unusual reactions while receiving of NS (FRESENIUS KABI) INFUSION, consult your doctor immediately. Symptoms of overdose are nausea, diarrhoea, stomach pain, low blood pressure, elevated heart rate, excessive sweating, headache, dizziness, fever, thirst, dry mouth or eyes, swollen legs, chest pain, breathing difficulty, irritability, restlessness, feeling weak, twitching or unusual muscle movements.
