What NITROSPAN is used for?

It is used,

  • to prevent chest pain caused by angina. It will not help to stop an episode of chest pain

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic (hypersensitive) to glyceryl trinitrate
  • have previous history of heart attack or heart failure
  • have low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • suffer from severe liver problems
  • are an alcoholic
  • If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in Children
  • You may get drowsy or dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs mental alertness until you know how this medicine affects you

Tell your doctor if you are taking, have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Especially

  • certain migraine medicines like ergotamine and dihydroergotamine
  • medicines used to treat erectile dysfunction like sildenafil, tadalafil and vardenafil
  • medicines for high blood pressure
  • other medicines used to treat angina
  • Always take NITROSPAN exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water
  • Follow the directions on the prescription label
  • Swallow whole. Do not crush or chew
  • Take your doses at regular intervals

If you take more NITROSPAN

  • If you take too many NITROSPAN, contact your doctor or go to your nearest hospital casualty department immediately

If you forget to take NITROSPAN

  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. Never take two doses at the same time (morning or evening)

If you stop taking NITROSPAN

  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly or your symptoms may get worse
  • If your doctor wants you to stop the medicine, the dose will be slowly lowered over time to avoid any side effects
