INTRODUCTION

MYCOFLU L contains Amphotericin B which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-fungals. It is used in the treatment of serious infections caused by fungi or yeasts and leishmaniasis (parasitic diseases). Fungal infection is a disease caused by fungus that enters the skin, spreads into tissue, bones or other parts of the body and it is characterized by symptoms such as rash, itching, skin darkening, and loss of skin colour.

Amphotericin B is an antifungal which acts as either a fungistatic (stops the growth of fungi) or fungicidal (destroys the fungi) medicine. It binds to certain fungal hormone (ergosterol) which results in cell death. Your doctor may advise several blood tests before starting the medication.
