MGR 5MG TABLET contains Flunarizine, which belongs to the group of medicines called Calcium Channel blockers. It is used to treat migraine. A migraine is a recurring type of headache that causes throbbing or pulsating pain that can be moderate to severe. This generally involves one side of your head. The most common symptoms include nausea, weakness and sensitivity to light and sound.
MGR 5MG TABLET is not recommended for patients having depressive illness or a history of recurrent depression and Parkinson’s disease. MGR 5MG TABLET should not be taken by pregnant and breastfeeding women and children. MGR 5MG TABLET should be used with caution by the elderly. Consult your doctor for advice.
The most common side-effects of MGR 5MG TABLET are an increase in body weight and appetite, a blocked or runny nose, feeling low or depressed, problems with sleeping, nausea, constipation, stomach pain, muscle aches, painful breasts, menstrual problems, and feeling tired. Consult your doctor if any of your symptoms get worse or persist.
MGR 5MG TABLET effectively helps in the treatment of migraine by prevention of narrowing of blood vessels.
Take MGR 5MG TABLET as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking MGR 5MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side-effects:
Nausea:
Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. Consult your doctor immediately if your symptom gets worse or persist.
Vomiting:
Drink clear or ice-cold drinks, eat light, bland foods and avoid fried, oily or sweet foods. Consult your doctor immediately if your symptom gets worse or persist.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fiber-rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor immediately if your symptom gets worse or persist.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and more frequent meals. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.
MGR 5MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use by pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
MGR 5MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use by breastfeeding mothers as it may pass through the milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel drowsy after taking MGR 5MG TABLET.
Avoid alcohol consumption while taking MGR 5MG TABLET as it can make you feel drowsy.
Do not take MGR 5MG TABLET if you are allergic to Flunarizine.
