METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET contains Methimazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Antithyroid Agents. It is used in adults to treat hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland). It is also used to treat and prepare for thyroidectomy (removal of the thyroid gland) or for radioactive iodine treatment or used when the overactive thyroid gland cannot be removed.
METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET is not recommended for you if you have history of acute pancreatitis (severe abdominal pain) after using this medicine.
METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver, kidney disease, large goitre (swelling in the front neck). Consult your doctor before taking it.
METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women unless it is considered clearly necessary. METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET is also not recommended for use in breast feeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years. The most common side effects of taking METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET are anorexia (an eating disorder), muscle pain, dizziness, drowsiness, neuritis, edema, numbness hair loss, heart burn etc. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.
METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET is used in adults:
METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET works by stopping the thyroid gland from making too much thyroid hormone and thus is effective in the treatment of hyperthyroidism.
Take METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET and consult with your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines while you are feeling dizzy. Consult your doctor if your dizziness did not improve.
Nausea and vomiting:
Take METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if your nausea and vomiting did not improve.

Women of childbearing potential should use effective methods of contraception during treatment with METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET. If you become pregnant or think you are pregnant while taking METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET, contact your doctor right away.
METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breast feeding women as this medicine passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose of METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET are nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, headache, fever, joint pain, itching and edema (fluid retention or swelling).
Other symptoms include hepatitis (liver dysfunction), nephrotic syndrome (kidney disease), exfoliative dermatitis (severe inflammation of skin), neuropathies (nerve damage) and CNS stimulation or depression, hypothyroidism (under active thyroid gland) with symptoms of a reduced metabolism and goitre growth (swelling of the neck).

Take METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET as advised by your doctor. It is usually taken three times a day, approximately every 8 hours, with food. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Is METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET hard on kidneys?
Acute kidney injury with or without the presence of nephrotic syndrome may occur during treatment with METHIMEZ 10MG TABLET. Kidney function will be closely monitored by your doctor after the initiation of this medicine to prevent progressive renal dysfunction.

Your doctor will check your or your child's progress at regular visits to make sure that the medicine is working properly by conducting blood and urine tests may be needed to check for unwanted effects.
