MESADAC 1200MG TABLET contains Mesalamine which belongs to the group of medicines called Salicylates. MESADAC 1200MG TABLET is used to treat and prevent mild to moderate ulcerative colitis (a chronic inflammatory bowel disease) in affected individuals.
MESADAC 1200MG TABLET is also used to reduce symptoms of ulcerative colitis which generally occurs as diarrhoea, rectal bleeding, and/or stomach pain in affected individuals.
MESADAC 1200MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Mesalamine, salicylates (such as acetylsalisylic acid), and/or sulphasalazine. It is also not recommended for use in patients with serious kidney/liver disease.

MESADAC 1200MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women only if it is clearly necessary. It is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years) after consulting the doctor.
The most common side effects of taking MESADAC 1200MG TABLET are indigestion, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, itching, and/or rash. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsens.
MESADAC 1200MG TABLET works by suppressing the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers responsible for inflammation in the intestines) which results in reduced inflammation and ulceration thus providing relief from ulcerative colitis (and its associated symptoms) in affected individuals.
Tablet:
Take MESADAC 1200MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Orally Disintegrating Tablet:
Take MESADAC 1200MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Place MESADAC 1200MG TABLET inside your mouth and allow it to dissolve completely. Do not swallow or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking MESADAC 1200MG TABLET and consult your doctor immediately in case you experience:
Nausea and vomiting:
Take MESADAC 1200MG TABLET with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks and drinks. Avoid drinking too much liquid along with your meals, drink slowly in between meals. Inform your doctor if the condition worsens.
Diarrhea:
Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to treat diarrhea. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom worsens.
Headache:
If MESADAC 1200MG TABLET causes headache, then take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Try to avoid drinking alcohol. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller. Headaches should usually go away after the first week of using MESADAC 1200MG TABLET. If it lasts more than a week or severe, inform your doctor.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and get enough sleep. Try to avoid driving or operating any tools or machines while you feel dizzy. Limit consumption of alcohol, as it can aggravate dizziness. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom worsens.
Tiredness:
Make sure you take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Avoid or limit the consumption of alcohol. Try to take MESADAC 1200MG TABLET at a time when you can sit down (or lie down) when the symptoms are at their worst. Avoid driving or using tools or machinery until you feel well.
Itchy Skin:
Try to pat or tap your skin instead of scratching it. Hold a damp towel to cool your skin. Wear loose clothing and avoid tight clothes, or clothes made from wool or synthetic fabrics. Avoid using perfumed soaps, deodorants or moisturizers and use a skin softener regularly.
MESADAC 1200MG TABLET should be used with caution during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy only if it is clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before taking MESADAC 1200MG TABLET.
MESADAC 1200MG TABLET should be used with caution in breastfeeding women only if it is clearly necessary as the medicine may pass through milk. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
MESADAC 1200MG TABLET is unlikely to affect your ability to drive and/or operate machines. Consult your doctor before taking MESADAC 1200MG TABLET.
MESADAC 1200MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney problems. It should be used with caution in patients who have/had mild to moderate kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking MESADAC 1200MG TABLET.
MESADAC 1200MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver problems. It should be used with caution in patients who have/had mild to moderate liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking MESADAC 1200MG TABLET.
Do not take MESADAC 1200MG TABLET if you are allergic to Mesalamine, salicylates, sulfasalazine, and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.
