MEBEX SUSPENSION contains a medicine Mebendazole which belongs to a group of medicines called Anthelmintics. It is used to treat threadworms (also called as pinworms) and other common worm infections of the gut (Ex. whipworm, roundworm, hookworm).
Initially, symptoms of gut worms may be mild or non-existent, but infections can lead to diarrhoea, stomach pain, weakness, anaemia (low red blood cells) and nutritional problems. You must consult your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a few days of treatment.
Before taking MEBEX SUSPENSION, inform your doctor if you have any allergies or if you are taking any other medicines. MEBEX SUSPENSION is not recommended for use among pregnant women and should be used with caution in breastfeeding women.
MEBEX SUSPENSION is not recommended for use in children (under 2 years of age), therefore, consult your child’s doctor for advice. The most common side effect of taking MEBEX SUSPENSION is stomach pain. Call your physician if any of the symptoms get worse.
Treats gut infections like:
MEBEX SUSPENSION interferes with cell formation in the worm and causes structural damage in its intestine. As a result, its glucose uptake and the digestive and reproductive functions are disturbed, leading to immobilization, inhibition of egg production and death of the worm.
Take MEBEX SUSPENSION as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide a proper dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and type of worm infection.
Stop taking MEBEX SUSPENSION and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Nausea or vomiting:
Take MEBEX SUSPENSION with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Drink clear or ice-cold drinks, eat light, bland foods and avoid fried, oily or sweet foods. Avoid drinking too much liquid along with your meals, drink slowly in between meals. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Diarrhea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Dizziness
Lie or sit down immediately when you feel dizzy. If you're feeling severe episode of spinning (vertigo), lie in a dark and quite place with eyes closed. Try to avoid vehicle driving. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
MEBEX SUSPENSION is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
MEBEX SUSPENSION should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
MEBEX SUSPENSION is not likely to affect you being able to drive or use any tools or machines.
Do not take MEBEX SUSPENSION if you are allergic to Mebendazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Use in Pediatrics:
MEBEX SUSPENSION is not recommended for use in children (aged under 2 years). It should be used in children aged 1-2 years only if specifically prescribed. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

What if I miss a dose of MEBEX SUSPENSION?
If you miss a dose of MEBEX SUSPENSION, take it as soon as you remember. However, skip that dose if the time for the next dose is closer. Do not take MEBEX SUSPENSION two times to make up for the missed dose.
Can MEBEX SUSPENSION be used to treat tapeworm infection?
Yes. MEBEX SUSPENSION can be used to treat intestinal tapeworm infections. Your doctor will decide a proper dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and type of worm infection.
Is MEBEX SUSPENSION safe in breastfeeding?
MEBEX SUSPENSION should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. If you are lactating or are planning to breastfeed your child, consult your doctor before taking it.
Does MEBEX SUSPENSION affect gut bacteria?
MEBEX SUSPENSION might affect gut bacteria. Gut bacteria diversity is increased after certain infections and it is peaked after administration of this medicine. Consult your doctor for further queries.
Can MEBEX SUSPENSION be given to infants?
No. MEBEX SUSPENSION is not recommended for children (aged under 2 years). It should be used in children aged 1-2 years only if specifically prescribed. Consult your child’s doctor for advice. The doctor will give a proper dose or select a suitable alternative treatment for your child.
