MAMOFEN contains Tamoxifen which belongs to the group of medicines called antioestrogens. It is used to treat breast cancer and also reduces the risk of developing breast cancer in pre- and postmenopausal women and helps to slow down the growth and multiplication of cancer cells. This medicine is also used for infertility in women caused by a failure to produce and release eggs (ovulate) properly. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose and duration according to your health condition
Oestrogen is a natural substance in body and some breast cancers need oestrogen to grow. Tamoxifen blocks the activity of estrogen and these oestrogens cannot stimulate the cells to divide and grow.
Always take MAMOFEN as directed by your physician. Before taking, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney, heart problems, blood clot disorders or if you are on infertility treatment. This medicine is not advisable for use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age. The most common side effects are hot flushes, nausea, tiredness, weakness or lack of energy (fatigue) and skin rashes.
MAMOFEN blocks the activity of estrogen (a female hormone) in the breast and stops the growth of some breast tumors that need estrogen to grow.
Always take MAMOFEN as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as whole with a glass of water and do not crush or chew the medicine.
Headache:
Rest and drink plenty of fluids. Apply a wet or cold cloth to forehead and rest in a quiet, comfortable, dark room.
Nausea:
Take normal regular meals and do not eat spicy foods.
Diarrhoea:
Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.
Vomiting:
Drink clear or ice-cold drinks and eat light, bland foods, avoid sweets.
Constipation:
Eat fruits, vegetables whole grains and fiber rich foods.
MAMOFEN is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your doctor for advice.
MAMOFEN is not recommended if you are breastfeeding, as it may pass into breast milk. Consult your doctor for advice.
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel tiredness, weakness or lack energy (fatigue) while taking this medicine.
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended while taking this MAMOFEN.
MAMOFEN should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
Inform your physician if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Tamoxifen.
