MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET contains Moxifloxacin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to treat acute bacterial sinusitis, acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, community acquired pneumonia, skin and soft tissue infections, uncomplicated urinary tract infection and pelvic inflammatory disease.
MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having liver and heart problems. MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding mothers. Consult your doctor before taking.
Before taking MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have or had myasthenia gravis, diabetes, epilepsy or any mental disorders.
MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age. MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients with renal impairment. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
The common side effects of MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET are headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and stomach pain. Consult your doctor if the above symptoms does not improve.
It is used to treat:
MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET works by inhibiting the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV which are required for DNA replication and transcription resulting in cell death. This prevents the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing and destroys them.
Always take this medicine as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will give the correct dose depends on your age, body weight and severity of the infection.
Stop taking MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Nausea or Vomiting:
Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Try to avoid oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks, and drinks. Try to drink liquid slowly along with your meals, or in between meals. Consult your doctor if your symptom is not improving.
Constipation:
Eat fibre rich foods like fresh fruit, vegetables, and cereals. Drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly.
Dizziness:
Lie, or sit down immediately when you feel dizzy. Try to avoid vehicle driving. Discuss with your doctor if the symptom worsens.
Headache:
Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Try to take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee. Massage on scalp or head with mild pressure. Consult your doctor for advice.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Consult your doctor for advice.
MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women or if you think you might become pregnant. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
Do not drive or handle any machines while taking MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET, since it may cause dizziness, light-headedness, or transient loss of vision.
Dosage adjustment is not required in patients with mild to severely impaired renal function or in patients on chronic dialysis. Consult your doctor before taking MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET.
MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease or increased liver enzymes or any active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
Do not take if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Moxifloxacin or any other ingredients of this medicine.
MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET is not recommended in patients with abnormal or slow heart rhythm or abnormal heart rhythms. MAHAFLOX 400MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients having heart valve heart disease, aortic aneurysm or aortic dissection or congenital heart valve disease, enlargement, or bulge of a large blood vessel or any other active heart disease. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
