What LYXUMIA 10MCG PEN is used for?

  • It is used to control your blood sugar level when it is too high and used in adults with type 2 diabetes

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine
  • have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
  • you have or have had inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis)
  • have a severe stomach or gut problem
  • have severe kidney disease or you are on dialysis
  • suffer from heart problems
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine
  • LYXUMIA 10MCG PEN is not recommended in children and adolescents less than 18 years of age
  • LYXUMIA 10MCG PEN with a sulphonylurea or a basal insulin, you may get low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia). This may make it difficult to concentrate and you may feel dizzy or sleepy. If this happens do not drive or use any tools or machines

Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines such as:

  • sulphonylureas or a basal insulin
  • antibiotics or stomach resistant tablets or capsules
  • Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Inject LYXUMIA 10MCG PEN in the hour before any meal of the day. Preferably inject before the same meal every day, when you have chosen the most convenient meal for your injection
  • Inject this medicine into the skin (subcutaneously) of your stomach area (abdomen), upper leg (thigh) or upper arm

If you take more LYXUMIA 10MCG PEN

  • If you take more than you should, talk to your doctor immediately

If you forget to take LYXUMIA 10MCG PEN

  • If you miss a dose you can inject it in the hour before your next meal. Do not take two doses at the same time to make up for a forgotten injection

If you stop taking LYXUMIA 10MCG PEN

  • Do not stop taking LYXUMIA 10MCG PEN without talking with your doctor. If you stop using this medicine your blood sugar levels can increase

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects although not everybody gets them.
