INTRODUCTION

LYNX 250MG contains Lincomycin which belongs to a group of medicines called Lincosamide antibiotics. It is used to treat upper, lower respiratory infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, septicemia, endocarditis and bacillary dysentery.

Lincomycin is an antibiotic produced by fermentation of Streptomyces lincolnensis which inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome. It is predominantly bacteriostatic in vitro. The antibacterial activity of lincomycin appears to best correlate with the length of time the concentration of active ingredient remains above the MIC of the infecting organism.
