INTRODUCTION

LUPILA D CAPSULE contains Domperidone and Ilaprazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Antiemetics and Proton pump inhibitors respectively. It is used in the treatment of gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer (a sore on the lining of your stomach, small intestine or esophagus), nausea and vomiting.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the tube connecting mouth and stomach (esophagus). This acid reflux can irritate the lining of esophagus. The symptoms include heartburn, chest pain, difficulty swallowing, sensation of a lump in your throat.

Before taking LUPILA D CAPSULE inform your doctor if you have heart, pituitary gland, kidney, liver problems, HIV/AIDS, bloody stools, blockage of intestine, problems with potassium/magnesium levels in blood. Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking LUPILA D CAPSULE.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to have a baby. LUPILA D CAPSULE is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. It is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 12 years of age. The most common side effects of taking LUPILA D CAPSULE is dry mouth. Consult your doctor if symptom does not show improvement.

USES OF LUPILA D CAPSULE

It is used to treat:

  • Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
  • peptic ulcer
  • nausea and vomiting

HOW LUPILA D CAPSULE WORKS

LUPILA D CAPSULE works by reducing excess stomach acid production and preventing the reflux of stomach acid into the food pipe in which Domperidone antagonizes the inhibitory effect of dopamine, resulting in stimulation of gastric muscle contraction which increases the gastric motility. And Ilaprazole works by suppressing gastric acid secretion through inhibition of the enzyme (H+/K+-ATPase) at the secretory surfaces of gastric parietal cells (responsible for gastric acid secretion).

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take LUPILA D CAPSULE as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

COMMON

  • dry mouth

  • anxiety, agitation, nervousness
  • headache

  • milk discharge from breasts

RARE

Stop taking LUPILA D CAPSULE and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • swelling of the face, lips, hands, feet, ankles, or throat which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing
  • an itchy, lumpy rash or nettle rash (urticaria)
  • uncontrolled movements (irregular movements of the tongue, eye and abnormal posture (twisted neck), trembling and muscle stiffens)
  • have very fast or unusual heartbeat
  • have a fit (seizure)

LUPILA D CAPSULE does not affect your ability to drive or use machines. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALCOHOL
Consult your doctor

KIDNEY

LUPILA D CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose will be adjusted by your doctor and kidney function will be monitored regularly. Consult your doctor before taking.

LIVER

LUPILA D CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with moderate to severe liver disease. LUPILA D CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking.

ALLERGY
Contraindicated

Do not take LUPILA D CAPSULE if you are allergic to Domperidone or Ilaprazole or any other ingredients of this medicine.

HEART DISEASE
Contraindicated

LUPILA D CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with prolonged QT corrected interval and heart failure. Consult your doctor before taking.

USE IN PEDIATRICS
Contraindicated

LUPILA D CAPSULE is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 12 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

OTHERS

LUPILA D CAPSULE is not recommended for use if you:

  • have stomach bleeding, severe abdominal pain or persistent black stools
  • have a blocked or perforated gut
  • have a tumor of the pituitary gland
  • have a problem with a low level of potassium or magnesium, or a high level of potassium in blood

Before taking LUPILA D CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you:

  • have HIV/AIDS

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before taking LUPILA D CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • azoles for fungal infections (Ex. ketoconazole, fluconazole or voriconazole)
  • medicines used for bacterial infections (Ex. telithromycin, moxifloxacin, pentamidine, erythromycin, clarithromycin)  
  • heart problems or high blood pressure (Ex. sotalol, diltiazem, verapamil, amiodarone, dronedarone, quinidine, disopyramide, dofetilide)
  • used for psychoses (Ex. haloperidol, pimozide, sertindole)
  • used for depression (Ex. citalopram, escitalopram)
  • used for gastro-intestinal disorders (Ex. cisapride, dolasetron, prucalopride)
  • medicines used for allergy (Ex. mequitazine, mizolastine)
  • medicines used for malaria (halofantrine)
  • medicines used for AIDS/HIV (protease inhibitors, zidovudine)
  • medicine used for cancer (Ex. toremifene, vandetanib, vincamine)
  • other medicines (Ex. bepridil, diphemanil, methadone)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of LUPILA D CAPSULE, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are feeling sleepy, confused, uncontrolled movements (eye movements, unusual tongue movements or abnormal posture).
