What LOWER EZ is used for?

  • It is used to lower levels of total cholesterol, LDL (bad) cholesterol and fatty substances called triglycerides in the blood
  • In addition, LOWER EZ raises levels of HDL (good) cholesterol
  • It is used for patients who cannot control their cholesterol levels by diet and exercise alone

Tell your doctor if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any of the following medicines

  • Allopurinol used for gout
  • Coumarin, warfarin used as blood-thinners
  • Sorivudine and brivudine used for viral infections
  • Medicines for seizures or tremors (phenytoin)
  • A medicine to treat cancer (interferon alpha)
  • Radiotherapy and certain medicines used to treat cancer (folinic acid, oxaliplatin, bevacizumab, cisplatin, irinotecan)
  • Medicines used to treat folic acid deficiency

  • Take LOWER EZ exactly as your doctor tells you to take it
  • Do not open your LOWER EZ pouch until you are ready to take LOWER EZ
  • Take LOWER EZ 1 time each day, with or without food
  • You should stay on a cholesterol-lowering diet while taking this medicine
  • Tablets should be swallowed whole
  • Do not crush, dissolve, or chew tablets

If you take more LOWER EZ

  • If you take too much LOWER EZ, call your doctor go to the nearest hospital emergency room right away 

If you forget to take LOWER EZ

  • If you miss a dose, do not take an extra dose
  • Just resume your usual schedule

If you stop using LOWER EZ

  • Keep taking LOWER EZ unless your doctor tells you to stop
