What LEFUMOD 20MG is used for?

It is used to treat,

  • rheumatoid arthritis
  • psoriatic arthritis

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you: 

  • are allergic to leflunomide or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have liver, kidney disease
  • have blood cell disorder
  • are suffering from a serious infection
  • have bone marrow disorder
  • suffer from any problem which affects your immune system (e.g. AIDS)
  • suffer from tuberculosis
  • suffer from interstitial lung disease
  • Do not take LEFUMOD 20MG if you are pregnant or breast feeding or think you may be pregnant
  • Women of childbearing potential must not take this medicine without using reliable contraceptives measures
  • It may pass into the breast milk
  • LEFUMOD 20MG is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age
  • LEFUMOD 20MG can make you feel dizzy which may impair your ability to concentrate and react. If you are affected, do not drive, or use machines

Tell your doctor if you are taking:

  • other medicines for rheumatoid arthritis such as chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, D-penicillamine, azathioprine, methotrexate
  • warfarin and other oral medicines used as blood thinner
  • teriflunomide for multiple sclerosis
  • repaglinide, pioglitazone, nateglinide or rosiglitazone for diabetes
  • daunorubicin, doxorubicin, paclitaxel or topotecan for cancer
  • duloxetine for depression, urinary incontinence or in kidney disease in diabetics
  • alosetron for the management of severe diarrhoea
  • theophylline for asthma
  • tizanidine, a muscle relaxant
  • oral contraceptives (containing ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel)
  • cefaclor, benzylpenicillin (penicillin G), ciprofloxacin for infections
  • indomethacin, ketoprofen for pain or inflammation
  • furosemide for heart disease (diuretic)
  • zidovudine for HIV infection
  • rosuvastatin, simvastatin, atorvastatin, pravastatin or colestyramine for hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol)
  • sulfasalazine for inflammatory bowel disease or rheumatoid arthritis
  • colestyramine or activated charcoal
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • The dosage and the drug form may vary with age, weight, severity of symptoms, and existing medical condition of an individual
  • Take it orally with or without food

If you take more LEFUMOD 20MG

  • If you have taken more LEFUMOD 20MG, contact your doctor or go to nearest hospital immediately

If you forget to take LEFUMOD 20MG

  • If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember but do not take two doses in one day

If you stop taking LEFUMOD 20MG

  • Do not stop taking LEFUMOD 20MG abruptly without consulting your doctor
Very Rare

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • muscle pain
  • fever
  • vision changes
  • difficulty in breathing
  • pale skin
  • peeling skin
  • dark-coloured urine
  • blisters on nose, eyes or skin
  • itching, rash
  • fast heartbeat
  • a slight decrease in the number of white blood cells (leucopenia)
  • mild allergic reactions
  • loss of appetite, weight loss (usually insignificant)
  • tiredness (asthenia)
  • headache, dizziness
  • abnormal skin sensations like tingling (paraesthesia)
  • mild increase in blood pressure
  • diarrhoea
  • nausea, vomiting
  • inflammation of the mouth or mouth ulcers
  • abdominal pain
  • an increase in some liver test results
  • increased hair loss
  • eczema, dry skin, rash, itching
  • tendonitis (pain caused by inflammation in the membrane surrounding the tendons usually in the feet or hands)
  • an increase of certain enzymes in the blood (creatine phosphokinase)
  • problems in the nerves of the arms or legs (peripheral neuropathy)
  • a decrease in the number of red blood cells (anaemia) and blood platelets (thrombocytopenia)
  • a decrease in the levels of potassium in the blood
  • anxiety, taste disturbances
  • urticaria (nettle rash)
  • tendon rupture
  • an increase in the levels of fat in the blood (cholesterol and triglycerides)
  • a decrease in the levels of phosphate in the blood

  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
  • Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
