What is LARETOL Injection used for?

LARETOL Injection is a synthetic form of vitamin D used to treat calcium deficiency in people with kidney disease, hypocalcemia, and hypoparathyroidism. This medication is also used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. LARETOL Injection controls the intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate, and thus maintains strong bones.

How to take LARETOL Injection ?

The dosage of LARETOL Injection prescribed to each patient will vary. Always follow your physician’s instructions and/or the directions on the prescription drug label.

LARETOL Injection can be taken with or without food.

If your physician has instructed or directed you to take LARETOL Injection medication in a regular schedule and you have missed a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the doses unless otherwise directed.

Any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose of LARETOL Injection , seek medical attention immediately.

What are the drugs that interact with LARETOL Injection ?

  • Fluticasone
  • Ketoconazole
  • Lanthanum
  • Phenobarbital
  • Phenytoin
  • Prednisone

It may be noted that drugs other than those listed above may also interact with LARETOL Injection .
