KCHEK contain calcium polystyrene sulfonate which belongs to a group of medicine called ion exchange resins. It is used to treat hyperkalaemia. Hyperkalaemia is a condition where the level of potassium in your blood that is higher than normal. It works by removing the excess potassium from your body than it is needed and brings it to normal level. It is often given to people who have kidney problem and people on dialysis.
Always use KCHEK exactly as your doctor has told you. Check the label for directions before use. The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea, stomach upset, loss of appetite. Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, heart disease, liver problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.

Abdominal pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or have smaller and frequent meal. Applying heat pad or covered hot water bottle on your stomach. If still pain persists, speak to your doctor.
Nausea and vomiting:
Try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food.
Constipation:
Take fibre rich foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables and cereals, and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lot of fluid such as water or squash, to avoid dehydration. Do not take any other medicines without talking to a doctor.
KCHEK should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with KCHEK.
