KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION contains Cholecalciferol which belongs to the group of medicines called Vitamin D analogs. It is used to treat and prevent Vitamin D deficiency. This may occur when your diet or lifestyle does not provide you enough vitamin D or when your body requires more vitamin D during pregnancy.

Along with this treatment, your doctor might advise you to eat and drink foods that are rich in calcium. Your doctor might want to take certain blood tests prior to the treatment to understand the existing condition.

KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION is not recommended for use if you have high blood or urine levels of calcium, kidney stones or serious kidney problems and high levels of Vitamin D.

Before taking KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION, inform your doctor if you have heart or kidney disease, sarcoidosis (a multisystem chronic inflammatory condition which can affect your lungs, heart, and kidneys) or if you are taking medicines containing vitamin D, increase parathyroid hormone in your blood or rickets (problems in bone).

KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women. KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (below 12 years of age). It should be used with caution in elderly patients.

The most common side effects of taking KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION are increased calcium level in the blood or urine. Consult your doctor if you experience any unusual effects.

USES OF KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION

  • To prevent or treat vitamin D deficiency (in adults, elderly and children over 12 years of age)

HOW KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION WORKS

KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION helps the body to absorb calcium and phosphorus by increasing their absorption from the gut and reducing the amount removed by the kidneys and it is a fat-soluble vitamin.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION as advised by your physician.  Shake well before use. You may also mix the dose with a small amount of cold or lukewarm food immediately before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION

UNCOMMON

  • increased calcium in the blood (hypercalcaemia) (symptoms include nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite, constipation, stomach ache, bone pain, extreme thirst, increased urination, muscle weakness, drowsiness and confusion)
  • increased calcium in the urine (hypercalciuria)

RARE

  • skin rash
  • itching
  • raised itchy rash (hives)

Stop taking KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • high calcium levels in blood (signs include severe nausea, vomiting, constipation, loss of appetite and irregular heartbeat)
  •  signs of impaired kidney function (signs include increased urination including night times, excess thirst, increased blood pressure)
  • severe allergic reaction (including rash, itching/swelling especially of the face/tongue/throat severe dizziness and trouble breathing)

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Do not scratch the affected area. Wear protective clothing while going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Consult your doctor if the symptoms worsen.

ALLERGY
Contraindicated

Do not take KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION if you are allergic to cholecalciferol, nuts or any other ingredients of this medicine.

HEART DISEASE

OTHERS

KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION is not recommended for use if you:

  • have high levels of calcium in the blood (hypercalcaemia) or urine (hypercalciuria)
  •  have high levels of vitamin D in the blood (hypervitaminosis D)

Before taking KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION, inform your doctor if you:

Use in Paediatrics:

Use in Geriatrics:

KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION should be used with caution in elderly patients. Dose will be adjusted by your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

Before taking KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION, inform your doctor, if you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • medicines used to treat epilepsy (Ex. carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin)
  • cardiac glycosides to treat heart condition (Ex. digoxin, digitoxin)
  • thiazide diuretics (water tablets) (Ex. bendroflumethiazide) to treat high blood pressure
  • medicine used to treat high cholesterol (Ex. cholestyramine)
  • laxative containing liquid paraffin to treat constipation
  • medicines used to treat fungal infections (Ex. ketoconazole, itraconazole)
  • actinomycin (medicine used to treat some forms of cancer)
  • glucocorticosteroids (Ex. dexamethasone or prednisolone) used to treat inflammation

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of KALZIN NANO ORAL SOLUTION, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose include damage of soft tissues and kidney, lack of appetite, thirst, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, muscle weakness, fatigue, mental disturbances, increased urination, bone pain and in severe cases may result in coma and death.
