HYTRIN 5MG TABLET contains Terazosin which belongs to the group of medicines called Alpha-blockers. It is used in the treatment of high blood pressure and benign prostatic hyperplasia (a condition where prostate gland, by growing too big and obstructing, it can partially block the flow of urine from the bladder).
Before taking HYTRIN 5MG TABLET consult with your doctor if you have heart problems or are planning to have a cataract removal surgery, or any kidney or liver impairment.
HYTRIN 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Consult with your doctor before taking the medicine.
HYTRIN 5MG TABLET is not recommended in children and adolescents. HYTRIN 5MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients over 65 years of age. Consult with your doctor before taking HYTRIN 5MG TABLET.
The most common side effects of HYTRIN 5MG TABLET are back pain, nausea and vomiting. Consult with your doctor if the side effects gets worse.
HYTRIN 5MG TABLET relieves the symptoms of BPH by relaxing the muscles of the bladder and prostate and lowers blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily through the body.
Take HYTRIN 5MG TABLET as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.
Nausea or Vomiting:
Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil-rich or spicy foods. Consult with your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fibre-rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. Consult with your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor.
Headache:
Try a cold pad. Dim all the lights. Keep yourself hydrated. Use a heating pad or hot compress. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
HYTRIN 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult with your doctor before taking the medicine if you are pregnant or planning to have a baby.
HYTRIN 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you are breast feeding. Consult with your doctor before taking the medicine.
Do not drive or use machines while taking HYTRIN 5MG TABLET as it may cause dizziness, light-headedness or drowsiness.
Alcohol intake is not recommended while taking HYTRIN 5MG TABLET as it may cause an increased risk of dizziness, light-headedness or drowsiness. Consult with your doctor before taking HYTRIN 5MG TABLET.
HYTRIN 5MG TABLET should be used with caution if you have any liver impairments. Consult with your doctor before taking HYTRIN 5MG TABLET.
Do not take HYTRIN 5MG TABLET if you are allergic to Terazosin, or other similar medicines such as alfuzosin, indoramin, prazosin, tamsulosin, doxazosin. Consult with your doctor before taking HYTRIN 5MG TABLET.

Overdosage:
If you accidentally take an overdose, consult with your doctor immediately. Overdose of HYTRIN 5MG TABLET may cause low blood pressure and other serious effects. Symptoms of an overdose of HYTRIN 5MG TABLET are dizziness, confusion, fainting, shortness of breath, fall in blood pressure, pounding of your heart (palpitations, rapid heartbeat, nausea, muscle cramps, low levels of sugar in your blood, low levels of potassium in your blood).

What happens if I forget to take HYTRIN 5MG TABLET?
If you forget to take a dose, just take the next dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose. If you have not taken HYTRIN 5MG TABLET for several days, you should not continue using the medicine but return to your doctor for a new starter pack.
How should I store HYTRIN 5MG TABLET?
Do not take HYTRIN 5MG TABLET after the expiry date shown on the package. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Do not store above 25º C. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
Can HYTRIN 5MG TABLET cause weight gain?
Long-term use of HYTRIN 5MG TABLET in the treatment of hypertension has a slight tendency of weight gain. Consult with your doctor if the symptom gets worse or does not improve.
