What HYDREA 100MG is used for?

  • HYDREA 100MG is used to treat some types of cancer such as cervical cancer and a type of leukaemia called chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML)

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic to hydroxyurea or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have blood problems
  • have severe anaemia
  • have kidney or liver problems
  • have suffered from gout
  • have leg ulcers
  • have previously received radiotherapy or chemotherapy
  • have vitamin B12 or folic acid deficiency
  • You should not take this medicine if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding, unless your doctor recommends it


  • You may feel drowsy. You should not drive or operate any machinery unless it has been shown not to affect you and have discussed it with your doctor

Tell your doctor if you are taking:

  • didanosine, stavudine and indinavir, used to treat HIV
  • chemotherapy and radiation therapy
  • vaccination
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • HYDREA 100MG should be swallowed whole with a glass of water
  • It can be taken before or after meals

If you take more HYDREA 100MG

  • If you take more HYDREA 100MG, contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital
  • The symptoms of overdose include soreness, swelling of hands and feet and redness of skin

If you forget to take HYDREA 100MG

  • If you forget to take a dose of this medicine do not take the missed dose at all
  • Take your next dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking HYDREA 100MG

  • Do not stop taking HYDREA 100MG unless your doctor tells you
Very Rare

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • unexplained shortness of breath or cough with fever, skin ulceration, especially with severe infection
  • blood disorders (reduction in white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets)
  • lower back pain or pain in your side
  • black tarry stools or blood in the stools
  • unusual bleeding or bruising
  • muscle weakness
  • absence or low amount of sperm in the semen (azoospermia or oligospermia)
  • worsening of existing redness or discomfort in the skin or mucous membranes if you have had radiation treatment in the past
  • skin cancer
  • problems with the flow of the bile
  • inflammation of the liver (hepatitis)
  • headache, drowsiness, dizziness, fits, confusion
  • loss of appetite, weakness, loss of energy
  • sickness, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain
  • sores on the lips or mouth
  • difficulty or pain passing urine
  • kidney problems
  • temporary hair loss
  • numbness or tingling of hands or feet

  • Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children
