HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP is used for treating bacterial infections including middle ear & sinus infections, respiratory tract infections, genital tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin & soft tissue infections such as dental infections, bone & joint infections, septic abortion (any abortion complicated by uterine infection), and abdominal infections.
What happens if you take more HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP than your required dose?
If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are gastrointestinal symptoms (including heartburn, indigestion, bloating, and constipation), fluid & electrolyte disturbance, and amoxicillin crystalluria which may lead to renal failure in some cases.
What side effects are seen with HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP?
The common side effects associated with the use of HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP are diarrhoea, thrush (fungal infection in the vagina, skin folds, or mouth), nausea, and vomiting. Contact your doctor immediately if any of the symptoms worsen.
Who should avoid taking HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP?
Do not take HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP if you are a history of hypersensitivity to beta-lactams, including penicillin and cephalosporins, or any other ingredients of this medicine. It is not recommended for use if you have a history of amoxicillin-clavulanate-associated jaundice/hepatic dysfunction.
Is HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP safe to use in children?
HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP should be used with caution in children (below 12 years). For administering suspensions to children (below 3 months), a graduated syringe is used to dispense the accurate volume. For administering this medicine to children (aged 2 years or below), suspensions should be diluted to half-strength with water. Consult your doctor before taking it.
How does HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP work?
HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP helps in treating bacterial infection where amoxicillin is a penicillin that works by inhibiting the enzymes that help in the synthesis of an integral structural component of the bacterial cell wall whereas clavulanic acid is a beta-lactam (structurally related to penicillin) that works by inactivating an enzyme, namely beta-lactamase, thereby preventing the inactivation of amoxicillin.
What is the method of taking HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP?
Syrup/ Oral Suspension
Take HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Use the dosing syringe, cup, or spoon supplied with the pack to measure the dose accurately. A dosing syringe is recommended to dose children below 3 months accurately. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.
Dry Syrup/Dry Suspension
Take HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP as advised by your physician. Open the sachet, reconstitute the dry powder thoroughly in a glass of water, and swallow the mixture immediately. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.
What if I forget to take HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP dose?
If you forgot to take HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP dose, take it as early as possible. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed dose. Consult your doctor before taking it if you are not sure what to do.
When to stop taking HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP?
Do not stop taking HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP without thoroughly discussing it with your doctor until the treatment course is completed, even if you start feeling better. This is because if some bacteria survive due to incomplete medication, they may relapse into the infection.
Is HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP safe to use in liver patients?
HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP is not recommended for use if you have a history of amoxicillin-clavulanate-associated jaundice/hepatic dysfunction. It should be used with caution in patients with hepatic impairment. Consult your doctor before taking HIPEN CLAV DRY SYRUP.
